Get in the Holiday Spirit With 'A Christmas Story'


Christmastime is almost here as surprising as that may seem. If your having a hard time getting into the Christmas mood, you may need something to give you a nice shot in the arm. What better way than attending a 'A Christmas Story' at Playhouse Square's Bolton Theater?

Ralphie Parker and the gang are ready to entertain and ticket prices start at a reasonable $25. The show starts on November 29th and runs until December 23, 2007.

If you need a remedial course in 'A Christmas Story' you can head over to the house that the famous movie was filmed at. Located in Tremont, the house has been transformed to look exactly how it was in the movie. Ticket prices for a visit are $7. Tours of A Christmas Story House are conducted every half hour beginning at 10:30 AM. The last tour of the day begins at 4:30 PM. The museum During the Holiday season, the house is open on Wednesdays-Saturday from 10 AM-5PM and Sundays from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

If you are an all out junkie of the movie, you may want to attend the 'A Christmas Story' Convention on Thanksgiving Weekend November 23-24, 2007. There you can attend a meet and greet with actors and meet fellow fans who all were afraid the shoot their eyes out when they were kids. For more information, you can call (216) 298-4919.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2007

10 AM - 5 PM: Actors from "A Christmas Story" to meet-and-greet fans and sign autographs at Renaissance Cleveland Hotel in the Ambassador Ballroom.

10 AM - 5 PM: "A Christmas Story" House and Museum Open with bb-gun range in the back yard sponsored by Daisy Outdoor Products.

2 PM: Unveiling of the Parker Family Car that caused Ralphie’s “Oh Fudge” incident. Unveiling will take place at "A Christmas Story" House. The car is a 1937 Oldsmobile Touring Sedan.

7 PM: Chinese Turkey Dinner at C&Y restaurant with movie actors. Dinner Tickets are $45 for adults and $22.50 for children and available to purchase by clicking here.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2007

10 AM: "A Christmas Story" House and Museum opens with extended hours, and bb-gun range in the back yard sponsored by Daisy Outdoor Products.

10 AM: First Lolly the Trolley trip departs from Renaissance Cleveland Hotel for "A Christmas Story" House. Trolley departs every half hour. Round trip trolley tickets are $5 for Adults, $3 for Children.

10AM: First Lolly the Trolley shuttle departs from Clark Fields for" A Christmas Story" House. Round trip shuttle tickets are $1 per person.

10AM - 12 NOON: Exclusive actors meet-and-greet fans and sign autographs sessions open to Renaissance Cleveland Hotel guests only in Ambassador Ballroom.

12 NOON- 1 PM: Guest Speakers: Brian Jones, Deren Abram and Tyler Schwartz will talk and answer questions in the Ambassador Ballroom of Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. Brian Jones, the owner of A Christmas Story House will be speaking about the renovations and on going projects at the House. Deren Abram is the producer of ClarkWORLD, a documentary on his long time friend and mentor, the late Bob Clark, Director of A Christmas Story. Tyler Schwartz, a native of St. Catharines, Ontario, is making a documentary, “Road Trip for Ralphie” which chronicles his quest to visit all of the film’s shooting locations from Cleveland to Canada, including the Victoria School in St. Catharines. A key scene involves the two fans salvaging the chalkboard from Miss Shields’ classroom on the day the building was gutted for remodeling.

1 PM - 10 PM: Actors meet-and-greet fans and sign autographs open to general public in Grand Ballroom of Renaissance Cleveland Hotel .

3 PM: Unveiling of the original movie prop chalk board from Miss Shields Classroom by Tedde Moore who played Miss Shields in the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. The chalk board was rescued this past year from Victoria School in Ontario, Canada just before the school was remodeled and donated to the museum.

4 PM: Character look-a-like contest. Come dressed as your favorite A Christmas Story character for a chance to win a leg lamp and other prizes. The top children 10 years of age or older dressed as Ralphie will have their picture submitted to Dasiy Outdoor Products for consideration to star as Ralphie in a Daisy Red Ryder BB-gun advertisiment for 25th Anniversary of A Christmas Story in 2008. Contest will be judged by Randy and Flick.

5 PM: Last Lolly the Trolley trip departs from "A Christmas Story House" for the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. Trolley departs every half hour. Round trip trolley tickets are $5 for Adults, $3 for Children.

6:30 PM: Winterfest tree lighting ceremony, parade, and fireworks show. Winterfest events take place in Public Square right in front of the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel (sight of the convention). Enjoy a downtown parade while standing right in front of the Higbee's Building (also on Public Square) just like the Parker family did in A Christmas Story.

8 PM: "A Christmas Story" House and Museum close for the day.

10 PM: Actors meet-and-greet closes.
