Cleveland Gladiators: Your New Arena Football League Team Gets a Name

A week after the Cleveland Plain Dealer took credit for getting the Cleveland Indians uniforms changed, the Cleveland Leader may be the reason that Bernie Kosar's new Arena Football team has announced a new team name. The Cleveland Gladiators will start their regular season action in March. The teams colors will consist of red, black and silver.

“It is an exciting day for Cleveland football,” said Gladiator part-owner, CEO and president Bernie Kosar said in release by the team “The name ’Gladiators’ epitomizes what I felt like taking the field every Sunday. We have been building this the right way with a top quality coaching staff and players that will be proud to have "Cleveland" on their uniforms.”

Season Tickets for the Gladiators are available by calling (216) 298-6979. The Cleveland Leader promises excellent coverage of all the Gladiators this season.

Great to see the name

Excited that the team is here and can not wait to go to a few games this coming season. Heard Arena football can only be really felt going to a game.

NLS - www.nolimitsportsline.com will be covering the team as well.

on TV

it ain't bad on tv either. when a game's going back and forth on each possession, by the 2nd half of the 4th quarter, the tension is almost unbearable. because it becomes all too obvious that the last team with the ball is going to win, unless... the "D" gets a stop, which is incredibly difficult in the AFL. and one defensive stop very often can win ya the game.

better enjoy it fast

You better get out there in year one while Jim Ferraro is on his best behavior. He's the worst owner in all of pro sports and a truly horrible excuse for a man. And no matter how many times he moves this team(market #3 and counting) he's going to be a scumbag. He will give you the league's cheapest game production. And if they start losing, he will insist they cut the good players to prevent them from getting performance incentives in their contracts. He'll withhold $ from players, coaches, staff and even the dance team. There are too many infractions from Jersey and Vegas to list. But be forewarned. You WILL end up with a bottom of the barrel team and you'll be angered and embarrassed by Ferraro within 3 years. So have fun in year 1. A tiger doesn't change his stripes.

this year

I think it is going to be very tough for us to compete in the eastern division. With Columbus, (yes i am still a fan of them but cleveland now comes first)and dallas sitting at the top it will be tough to compete. Throw Philadelphia in there and forget about new york because they are bad it wil be a challange for us just to go 500 in the division. Not saying that is a bad thing going 500 because the national conference is weak and you might see 4 of the 6 teams that make the playoffs in this conference come from this division. Go Gladiators and go Destroyers.
