Contractors to Cleveland Browns: Pay Your Bills
WOIO 19 Action News ran a story on tonight's telecast at 11 pm that showed disgruntled contractors who worked to repair Cleveland Browns Stadium after a flood damaged the locker rooms this summer. Contractors for the club claim that they have only been paid half of the $6 Million Dollar debt the team incurred when they repaired the damage. A small contracting company now says they may be forced to go out business, and are threatening a lawsuit if the NFL franchise does not pay up.
Contractors repaired 142 lockers, and have loans with banks and vendors that still need to be paid. The contractors apparently had no idea that it would take over 4 months for full payment.
The City of Cleveland, who had an insurance policy for the broken pipes that caused the damage, seem to be the party that is holding the payments up. Considering the Cleveland Browns have much deeper pockets than the city of Cleveland, why can't they just pay the contractors and wait on the city of Cleveland to reimburse them when the Insurance money comes through?

This is not news, this is commentary/opinion. It is not the Browns responsibility to come up with the money that the city owes anyone. Hey, I owe the U of Akron several thousand dollars, why can't you pay them? You have more money than I do, it's only fair that you pay 'em. I'll pay you back, pinky swear.
Mayhaps if your organization wasn't so lame, you'd still be getting payed by the Browns, too.

Didn't the people of Cleveland spend well over $300 Million dollars to construct that stadium for the team. And now the team, which rakes in millions, can't even pay local contractors. I think I hear a bird and its going "Cheap Cheap Cheap".
Considering the Lerner family made its money raping people with outragous finace charges on credit cards I think they would like to be thought of as someone who pays there bills in a timely manner.
Try not paying MBNA Credit Card and see how quickly the phone starts ringing.....
You're confused
If you would actually read the article, it states that the city is responsible for the bills.
This has nothing to do with MBNA, or how quickly pay their credit card bills. It has EVERYTHING to do with who is responsible for payment; and that is NOT Lerner or the Browns.

Another attempt by "action News" to take a stab at the Lerner family. It seems clear to me the city owes the contractors, not the Browns. If WOIO 19 is so worried about the contractors why don't they pay them and let the city pay them back.
Paying for services
I love the Browns ,and they are having a great year ! I think we should go to all the Browns home games and demand free tickets , if they don't want to pay , then why the hell should we ?!

thank you for posting this-----I have a wife and 4 children----I work for the company that was featured on the original Channel 19 broadcast----after 12 years of business we are being forced to close down because we have not been paid-----Merry Christmas Cleveland Browns.....joe
