John Edwards Allegedly Had Secret Affair & Fathered a Child with Rielle Hunter

John Edwards, a Democratic presidential candidate, is now rumored to have impregnanted a woman by the name of Rielle Hunter, who is allegedly his mistress. Hunter was linked just a few months ago to Edwards in an alleged cheating scandal, and is now six months pregnant.

According to The National Enquirer, Hunter has told a close confidante that Edwards is the father of her child. Not only is Rielle expecting, but she's now also gone into hiding witht he assistance of a former Edwards aide. Rielle has relocated from the New York area to Chapel Hill, NC, where she is living in an upscale, gated community near Andrew Young, a close friend of Edwards who was a key official in his previous presidential campaign.

In a weird twist, Young, who's married and has a couple young children of his own, is now claiming that he is the father of Hunter's child. However, many speculate that Young's paternity claim is a cover-up to protect Edwards.

John Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and battled a recurrence this year, has since joined her husband on the campaign trail. Such a strenuous lifestyle is not ideal for someone currently battling cancer, and leaves us with another big question: is Elizabeth joining him on the campaign trail to keep an eye on her husband?

With just about three months left in her pregnancy, and the candidates on the verge of the primary season, one can't help but wonder if a cover-up is going on.

In 2006, Rielle Hunter was hired by the Edwards campaign to produce a series of videos, costing them $114,461. The point of them was to give viewers and voters an authentic look at the North Carolinian, however, shortly after he announced his 2008 Presidential aspirations, the footage disappeared from the web. A website she had called "Being is Free" (beingisfree.org) also curiously was shut down just twenty days after receiving her final payment from Edwards' One America Committee.

Rielle issued a statement to The National Enquirer denouncing the rumors, and insisting that the father is Andrew Young, however, a source says that Rielle told a much different story to them. According to the source, Rielle confided that she and Edwards had a secret affair and that he is her baby's real father, but indicated that Rielle would do anything to protect Edwards.

Edwards at best rates third in polls of the Democratic Party presidential candidates, but still clings desperately to the hope that somehow he can pull out a win. However, with these allegations floating around, it's going to be a difficult uphill battle.

Edwards is such a pill. If this wasn't true the National Enquirer wouldn't publish it because they would be sued to no end. Thank Goodness this will knock him out of the race because he has as much integrity as a used cars salesman.

I'm a supporter of Hillary's but I've heard and seen enough of this crap through the clinton years.....edwards camp will blame obama or clinton camp and v.v......bottom line - a story like this serves no real purpose and only helps the republicans.

Imagine if you will an ego so powerful that it will stop at nothing to be president... that person being Hillary and Bill.

Desperation knows no bounds and obvious no ethical bounds. How many celebrities do you know that has sued the Enquire for publshing fasle information. I'm sure John Edwards could win a mighty hefty settlement if he chose to sue.

I won't apologize for what I think of Hillary, we all can remember the 90's and the Clinton's staff dropping off the face of the earth...maybe with a little help, ya think?

John and Elizabeth Edwards are the kindest people you will ever meet, and I deplore this kind of trash. And another thing, I am a strong believer in letting everyone have a private life and being a presidential candidate is not any different or better than the average Joe American. Publish news not gossip or trash such as this. Bah humbug! :(

Don't be so quick to write off this story.

There was a lot of smoke, and a little bit of fire, around the rumor of their affair.

Young is being a good soldier. Of course his wife will stand by him, if they are both JE believers and realize this minor embarrassment must be sustained for the the cause. Edwards, richer than God, can make all the boo boos go away.

You leftists who love this guy so much forget he campaigned as a conservative in 2000. He's not all that.

That statement says much more about the commenter's quick knee-jerk reaction to judge others than it does about the truth, which is that whether or not you support Edwards, this story has no legs. It's one source is anonymous and it could be Mickey Mouse or it could be no one at all. Regurgitating this garbage is not worthy of any credible and ethical news site.

So they are rather dry on-the-road documentary style. Not sure why he paid Rielle Hunter so much for them. I guess the Enquirer thinks they know the reason. Only time will tell. My question is, with this story all over the web, why doesn't he make an offical statement?

Hmm, that would be kind of like if Hillary Clinton made a public statement denying the tabloid story of her affair with P'lod, an alien with a foot-long tongue. Tabloids "report" ridiculous things about celebrities every day. Most celebrities wisely ignore them.

Who the heck is this anonymous "source" that the entire story hinges on? The Enquirer asked Andrew Young to take a polygraph test. Why don't they ask their "source" do take one?

Gee, maybe because The Enquirer is a joke?

The real story here is that other entities claiming to employ journalists have sunk so low as to use The Enquirer as a source. Furthermore, in the above article, the Cleveland Leader doesn't stop at just reporting the existence of the Enquirer story but is adding its own tabloid-style flourishes. The comment about Elizabeth Edwards' presence on the campaign trail is completely out of line, and an insult to all people living with cancer. It's not just bad journalism, it's not even journalism at all.

Its funny to read the people accuse the writers of the allegations of being sleazy.
Well.....now there are pictures coming out of Edwards rendevous with his lover and "love child"....when I was growing up they were referred as bastard.
Question is.....when the pictures finally get out....(I say that because the liberal news media will never report it) will they still say the bloggers are sleazy or will they admit that a rat bastard that cheats on his wife that has cancer may be the sleazy one, not those that talk about it.

These are the same people that thought it was okay for Clinton to get bj's by interns in the White House without regard to his family or the honor he should have had for the Oval Office.
