Model Helena Christensen was reportedly on her way to visit Heath Ledger when she heard the news of his tragic death. Helena says that she left a message on his answering machine just before he was found dead in his SoHo apartment.

"I am just beyond sad at this point, and shocked. I was on my way over to pay him a visit when I found out," Helena told reporters.

"I had just left him a message and heard his voice on the machine. He was such a special and genuine person, so extraordinarily talented because he was so raw and honest with his feelings. He was so full of life, so electric... This is immensely sad," she added.

Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead in his apartment by a housekeeper Tuesday afternoon. Over-the-counter pills were found strewn across the bed, where Heath was found lying naked. An overdose is the suspected cause of death.

Ledger has a two year old daughter, Matilda, with former fiance Michelle Williams. The couple had split up in September 2007. It was last reported that Heath was dating Aussie supermodel Gemma Ward.
