Joe Cimperman Fudges Numbers in Race Against Kucinich
Callahan’s Cleveland Diary discovered something that the Joe Cimperman campaign probably wishes it hadn't. Cimperman has long stated the reason he is running for Dennis Kucinich's seat in the 10th Congressional District in Ohio (a place where Cimperman does not even reside) is the fact that Kucinich is an absentee Congressman. Well, Callahan’s Cleveland Diary showed that reasoning doesn't not pass the litmus test.
They write:
Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, has missed 141 votes in this Congress compared to Dennis’s 139 (not “300+”, as Cimperman’s commercial says).
Considering that Cimperman lives in Tubbs-Jones 11th District, and the only thing he has been running on is Kucinich missing votes - can someone explain Cimperman's real motivation in this election?
More troubling is the fact that Cimperman conveys a flat out lie in the advertisement. The clip in the piece clearly shows that Kucinich missed "over 300 votes" in Congress when the fact is that he missed 139. And to think that Cimperman states "I approve this message" at the end of the advert. What else would he approve without first checking the facts if he was elected to represent the people of Cleveland in Congress?
Kucinich missing votes while campaigning for a higher office is understandable (Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul who are the other members of Congress that were running for President all had higher rates of missing votes). If Cimperman was really bothered about an absentee member of Congress, he should look no further to the place he lives because she is representing his district.

Cimperman is a crook. All he
Cimperman is a crook. All he is good at is spreading lies and smear ads about Dennis. The people of Cleveland will not be deceived. We know who speaks for us, we know who fights for us, we know who represents our will... DENNIS does. He is most of the time a lone voice in congress bringing up matters of extreme importance such as getting out of Iraq, universal not-for-profit health care, workers rights, human rights, etc... Cleveland needs him and America needs him. We've got your back Dennis!!!
Cimperman is Cleveland's only hope
Joe Cimperman is a man who has been out amongst the citizens doing good, while Kucinich is out only for himself. He embarrassed Cleveland in the seventies, and he is embarrassing Cleveland now. He is a Socialist who has no idea of what America is about. Joe Cimperman deserves to be a Congressman far more than Kucunich.
If you are relying on Dennis
If you are relying on Dennis to save Cleveland, God help us all. While he is out in LA hanging with his Hollywood friends, the City of Cleveland is falling into a deeper hole of economic and social despair. I have met both candidates and , by far, Cimperman is the better choice. His focus will remain on northeast Ohio, not some rediculous idea that he will become the next president.
I am tired of being the laughing stock of the political nation. We need to remove this black-eye on Cleveland that Dennis represents and bring in someone that will do what's best for Cleveland and not themselves. Dennis needs to go.

If we could all be so lucky
I live in Lincoln Nebraska and wish that we had someone as dedicated as Kucinich to looking out for citizens instead of corporations. Everything that I have read and researched on Kucinich is that the District that he represents should be thrilled to have such a stand up guy looking after them. He is not afraid to stand up to corporations, lobbying groups or the president or vice president. The only fault that Dennis has is that he wears his heart on his sleeve and that his passion is often misunderstood. Don't give up on Dennis, You need him in DC, we all do!
If you like Dennis so much,
If you like Dennis so much, maybe he should move to Nebraska. Hell, I'll even throw in for the moving van. If you spent a day in Northeast Ohio, you would quickly see how grossly misrepresented this area is.
Dennis needs to go.
Cimperman to Simpleton
Short trip. From accusations and attempts at defamation, it takes only one person with a computer to check the facts of his 'Approved Statement' to turn the finger around to point it at him. What do you say we all take a good long look at this Mr. Cimperman. I think I am going to set my Google News search to Cimperman and watch it like a microscope. I suspect we will see some more strange activity there in no time.
A great Man indeed!
Thank you Ohio for electing a great man, Dennis Kucinich, who has fearlessly represented the points of view of which the Washington imbedded politicians seem totally unaware. Before the presidential campaigns started it seemed that no-one in Washington was in touch with the rest of us. But I learned that Dennis Kucinich is in touch and not afraid to fight for us. He is not only a gifted speaker having an easy to listen to voice, but he communicates clearly. He is able to avoid the traps with which interviewers try to entangle candidates and instead simply speaks the truth. They don't know how to act. When one speaks the truth, one does not have to worry about contradicting oneself and creating "A Story". He is consistent, bold, ethical, and courageous. Dennis gave me hope for Washington...he has everything right. Each candidate has their good stands on issues, but Dennis has them all right. Amazing. His following had been growing slowly but is very strong. This has definitely caused a change in the dialog of some candidates. Because of the excitement and support he created for his campaign as uncovered by the media as it was, the other candidates are speaking now with more awareness of these issues than they were before. It would have been incomprehensible after the Bush fiasco, to have a president who told the truth boldly, followed through like Dennis did for Cleveland as mayor and who truly was a leader for the people, not the rich corporate institutions who have a bottomless appetite for greed.
Remember, Dennis received the highest approval rating after the first debates. He received 77% approval on the internet independent voter poll. Then he was blocked by the corporate media.
I am grateful he ran for president because he created awareness of so many issues vital to us little guys. I am grateful he is back in Washington to represent Ohio and fight for all the U.S. citizens as he defends the United States Constitution. If Bush and Cheney are not impeached for their high crimes against the Constitution, it will not be worth the paper on which it is written. Out here in rural areas, people just shake their heads as they see one person jailed for shoplifting, another jailed for speeding, another jailed for lack of child support and yet this administration breaks the law, lies, attacks a country unprovoked, to go to war causing millions of deaths, and countless wounded. Then creates policies that fill the pockets of the rich even more, create a corporate welfare system with the poorest supporting the richest, who then complain when the government is called upon to feed a child, etc., etc.
Dennis's idea for a not for profit Medicare health care system for all Americans, like the lawmakers in Washington have, would eliminate the huge waste of resources of people, time and money filling out forms that change constantly caused by the present systems. Think about your own situation and how much time you have spent trying to figure out who pays whom and how much, and what you pay. Doctors would be put back in the business of prescribing drugs instead of the drug companies. Imagine that! People would go to their doctor of choice when they needed it. Business could concentrate their resources on their business and get out of the health care providing business.
I have not heard another candidate take a stand like Kucinich's on NAFTA and the WTO. He would eliminate them and renegotiate the rules for trade to a level playing field so we are not paying more for importing our goods into China when they import to here for free. He would create a climate bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States and at the same time trade with countries who treat their workers like our workers want to be treated: adequate pay, safe work conditions, and fair employment practices and who have product safety standards like ours. We could put America back to work.
He would have the US join the Kyoto Treaty to reduce pollution, and put a moratorium on nuclear, and carbon emitting energy plants. He would create incentives to research clean fuel and build wind, solar, and geo energy.
He would get out of Iraq, end the occupation and negotiate with neighboring countries to join us and the UN to support Iraq's establishment of democracy. He would go after Al Qaida in Afghanistan.
He would create a department of Peace that not only worked on peace negotiations globally, but promoted peace in families and communities reducing child and spouse abuse and violence to others.
He would get rid of the Patriot Act and the No Child Left Behind Act. Both a waste of time and money and do not work.
He would give mothers of preschooler’s credit for child care to allow those mothers who choose to do so. Dennis believes mothers are the best ones to raiser their children.
Dennis Kucinich has it all right. But first the United States Constitution must be defended to ensure our freedoms. We must investigate and punish this administration even if it happens after they are out of office.
Freedom of information, of the press, is essential. When Reagan sold our built with tax dollars communication satellite to private enterprise it was wrong. Why it was wrong is now being realized. Media content is controlled by a six company monopoly. When Dennis won ABC's own poll after the first debates, they did not publish it. He won the internet independent voter poll by 77% The media started blocking him from the debates. Everyone I have talked to believe the presidential debates toward the election of our leader to the highest office in the land has been a fiasco. When the media controls who they want us to know about, they now have the power to do it and have been doing it. This is treason. Next they could decide to market an Abramoff, or new Hitler type and we would not know the difference until it was too late. The government, which is we the people, need to take back our communications satellite and take back our airwaves which are owned by the public but the media think they own it.
The questions asked of the candidates were inane. The presidential debate process needs to be put back into the hands of the League of Women Voters who are totally impartial. Then the voting public will get the information they need to make an informed decision.
Don't ever believe that Dennis Kucinich is ineffective. You have not been paying attention. You may have been basing it on just what ABC, NBC, and CBS want you to base it on. The media have been getting rich off their marketing of the first woman and the first black making a circus of the debates. They have ignored all the other Democratic candidates. You heard little of Gravel, Kucinich, Dodd and Biden. Now John Edwards is being ignored. Meanwhile, instead of giving us meat on the real issues and what the candidates' stands are on the issues, the pundits carry on conversations with each other and call this programming.
If you want to be informed, it will take time but is of utmost importance as our country and our globe are at a tipping point on many crucial issues. Go to each candidate's site and click on issues and read. What is important to you? Know what that is and make an informed choice. We need a president who has the power of leadership to give us back our power to pitch in and solve the problems this country and the globe faces. We need someone who is ethical, intelligent, wise, courageous, compassionate, and bold.
Dennes Won, We Lost
We lost Dennis Kucinich and very few knew what we lost.
We won and he won hands down in one of the
first Presidential debates as shown in my;
Saving America in 10 Minutes; You Tube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbi-I-BbBTw
Learning that Dennis Kucinich has dropped out of the
Presidential race caused my heart to just about drop out. This is a most sad day for our nation.
Dennis Kucinich, elected, would have been the first President since 1913 who had the courage to uphold our Constitution.
Very few are aware of the most personal benefits we would have if our President did uphold our Constitution.
Dennis was marginalized and shut out of the media because he was a threat to the war profiteering and health crisis profiteering.
Obviously we do not deserve what he stands for. We have not earned it by enough of us coming together and organizing for what most Americans want in their wisdom and heart. Legislation Dennis Kucinich voted for and created, is not just something nice to have;
it is what we need if we are to survive.

help his campaign
To you dennis kucinich supporters who live in his Ohio district, be sure to help the campaign! Just because dennis is right on the issues, don't ASSUME cimperman/corporate money will lose the primary. look who is the p"resident" of the US!!!!
Dennis is my hero
Cimperman is a cockroach, not fit to lick Dennis' boots. Dennis has done a great deal for his constituents and has fought for them all of these years. That's why he keeps getting re-elected. Don't let the corporate fat cats who are funding his opponents win. Re-elect Dennis, because without him, we all lose.
Dennis Kucinich missed over
Dennis Kucinich missed over 300 votes in total while running for President ('04 and '08)
Dennis Kucinich missed over 130 votes in 2007 alone.
This is the message of the Cimperman commercial.
This is spot is clearly
This spot is clearly using deception. View for yourself:
Nowhere in the advertisement it states that was only in the times he was running for higher office. The advertisement even states that Congressman Kucinich missed more votes than almost every other Congressman which is a bold face lie.
He actually has above average attendance and compared to Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, who is Cimperman's rep in the House, has a much higher rate of attending. I will not be editing the piece because of these facts. Thank you for reading our website.
I will post your comment on the website (along with this rebuttal and a video of the said advertisement) because your views are important although misguided in my opinion. Thank you for reading our website.
I cancelled my p.d
I cancelled my p.d subscription and urge others to do the same for their coverage of important issues.
Dennis Rocks!
I don't live in Cleveland, but I wish I did so I could vote for Dennis Kucinich. I supported his campaign for President, and if he runs again I'll support him again. Heck, I've even sent him money for his Congressional campaign, even though I live in Alabama. MY Congressman is a 6 term Republican who is, as usual, running unopposed. (and you think you've got it bad..) You guys are so lucky to have Dennis! He's for the little guy, and he's not all talk, either. His office handles over 10,000 constituent problems every single year. This is unprecedented in Congress. He also lives in the District he's representing, unlike his opponent.
Why doesn't this joe-ker campaign for the seat in his OWN district? If he's so wonderful, they should be glad to have him. Why attack Kucinich because he ran for President? Remember there are 'votes' and there are 'votes'. It's which votes you show up for that matter, not how many. Even some very important issues can be a 'done deal' before they ever hit the floor. If you know in advance that some measure or other is going to fail 100-1, there's not really much point in interrupting your entire campaign just to show up and lose. Sure, it's a nice gesture, but really it's only the close votes that are crucial. Many are on silly stuff like approving a plaque or an award, or voting on earmarks dear to the heart of a rep from another state.
You've got a good man in Dennis. Please do the country a favor and reelect him to Congress. Progressive Democrats are struggling to improve the lives of ordinary working people everywhere. We need a man we can count on to do the right thing, a man who is one of the cleanest politicians in the country, a man who doesn't go back on his word. We need Dennis Kucinich!
Kucinich has represented
Kucinich has represented this area more than adequately. Don't blame him for the erradication of federal funding. Blame it on this trillion dollar war of choice in Iraq. I was happy to see him on all of the national presidential debates he was allowed to participate in. Not only did he represent our district, he represented everyone else who doesn't want the Federal Government cowtowing to special interests (i.e., global corporations). He did his job and then some.
I'm always surprised how
I'm always surprised how candidates can outright lie in campaign ads and then not face the music when someone catches them lying. It's a joke. There should be penalties for misleading the voters to get elected.
