Bobby Cutts Jr. Found Guilty in Jessie Davis Murder

Bobby Cutts Jr., a former Canton police officer, was found guilty today in the murder of Jessie Davis. Jurors returned to the court room at approximately 10:40am Friday morning with their decision.

As the verdict was read, Cutts showed no emotion. Members of the Davis family held hands just before the decision was announced.

The jury consisting of six men and six women found Cutts guilty today. Cutts was found guilty on two counts of aggravated murder in relation to the unborn child. He was found not guilty for the aggravated murder charge for the death of Jessie Davis, but guilty on the count of murder. He was also found guilty of aggravated murder in the death of Davis' unborn child, and guilty of gross abuse of a corpse.

The sentencing hearing will be held on February 25th. Having been found guilty on the aggravated murder charge of Davis' unborn baby, Cutts could face the death penalty.

Jurors had one week's worth of testimony to consider in their deliberations, including Cutts own testimony that Davis' death was an accident. Closing arguments were presented Tuesday, and the jury has been sequestered since then.
