Ohio Democratic Debate Tonight on MSNBC

The hotly anticipated Democratic presidential debate between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama takes place tonight in Cleveland, Ohio at Cleveland State University. The debate will be broadcast on the cable news channel MSNBC, as well as NBC affiliates throughout Ohio. You can also catch the debate in live streamlining video online at MSNBC.com. The debate will begin promptly at 9pm and will run approximately 90 minutes.

Moderating the debate will be Tim Russert of NBC's "Meet the Press", and NBC "Nightly News" host Brian Williams.

The event is being held at CSU's Wolstein Center arena, which typically has a capacity of just over 13,000. However, the arena has been shrunk down to the size of an intimate theater for the debate with enough seating for 1,600 people. Many of the tickets were distributed by each party's campaigns, and some tickets were made available to CSU students in a lottery. 542 journalists applied for credentials, and will be in attendance.

Prior to the start of the debate this evening, both candidates will hold rallies outside of the arena. So for those who wanted to get into the debate, but couldn't, it's a pretty good alternative.

Ohio primary elections are on March 4, so all eyes will be on this debate. Ohio is seen as a key state that could swing momentum and electoral votes, and perhaps even help decide who will get the Democratic nomination. Performance tonight is crucial for both candidates.

I've never heard any candidate answer this:

Would you support raising the cap on the Social Security tax from its current level - approximately $90,000.00 - to a more realistic level given decades and decades of inflation. 90K is absurd. Why not raise it?

$90,000.00 in 1935 dollars equals between $1,000,000.00 and $3,000,000.00 in 2008!

Hillary may have gathered first hand experience as First Lady when her husband gave 140 Pardons the last day before they left the White House.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_controversy

This list of 140 Pardons include individuals charged with cocaine possession, cocaine distribution, bank fraud, medicaid fraud, tax evasion, wire fraud, tax evasion, securities fraud, armed robbery, etc etc..

http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pardonchartlst.htm

According to Wikipedia, "In March 2000, Bill Clinton pardoned Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory, owners of the carnival company United Shows International, for charges of bank fraud from a 1982 conviction (the couple were already out of jail, but the prior conviction prevented them from doing business transactions in certain states). First Lady Hillary Clinton's youngest brother, Tony Rodham, was an acquaintance of the Gregorys, and had lobbied Clinton on their behalf.[11] In October 2006, the group Judicial Watch filed a request with the U.S. Justice Department for an investigation, alleging that Rodham had received $107,000 from the Gregorys for the pardons, in the form of loans that were never repaid, as part of a quid pro quo scheme.[12]"

And what about the substantial donations to the Clinton Library and Hillary's senate Campaign by fugitive Mark Rich, who was pardoned by the Clintons.

Susan McDougal was pardoned for her role in the Whitewater scandal.

Roger Clinton, Bill's half-brother was pardoned on drug charges.

Does the Pardon process work or is it shamefully abused? What are Obama's thoughts on this topic?

Best regards,
James Miller

What I want to know is who would Obama and Hillary pardon, and why?

Obama has the advantage in almost anything against Hillary Clinton, since, he is a gifted speaker and we just don't know him that well. It seems to me that he can say anything he wishes - and we really don't know his intentions or those guiding him. Thus, a number of his stated view point and opinions sound excellent to us the public.

This reminds me of that show: "The price is right" .. where they would show that unknown box.. (which always always looked better to me). When chosen, that box on occasion turned out to be a car,or a vacation.. other times a chicken, or a mop, etc...

I would have liked to have seen Obama in tougher situation and actually seen more of his reactions..

At this point, we just don't know how he will react in the future.

Who will influence Obama when he is under pressure? How will he handle powerful pressure pushing him against the will of the people? What is his breaking point?

We know a number Hillarys (and her husbands) problems - and her good and bad efforts to correct herself..

Barrock Obama-

Are the emails true????? That you were once Muslim. I have recieved multiple emails about this topic. I would Just like you to clarify this issue.

Thehobboy

His father was a non-practicing Muslim who left the family when Barack was 2 years old. His mother was not a church-goer but someone who instilled respect for religion in her children. When she lived in Indonesia with her second husband, she sent Barack to an Indonesian public school for two years that included readings and study of the Koran and later to a Catholic school for two years. Back in America, Barack joined a Christian church in Chicago and has been a member there ever since.

Thehobboy - Is it true that you once were a child. Now, being a child in and of itself is not such a bad thing. However, some children do bad things...

isnt it funny that sen. clinton only gets 5 minutes to answer when obama gets 15 mins

any comments???

I thought Obama was the clear winner of the debate. The only thing I did not like was his pronunciation of Pakistan.

Obama pronounced Pakistan just fine, BUT
Hillary did not know the name of the next President of Russia....she said "Med....whatever." Gee, she says she has traveled to ? countries and spoken to numerous world leaders....but cannot pronounce names.

As we have seen in Health Care, Hillary is all talk but she does not deliver.
