Kucinich Earns Another Primary Victory Despite Tough Race

Despite a campaign that spent over $500,000 to defeat the long-standing Congressman Dennis Kucinich, the popular Cleveland Representative defeated Cleveland city councilman Joe Cimperman by over 20,000 votes. Kucinich also managed to garner more than 50% of the vote despite facing 4 challengers who charged the former Cleveland Mayor as being an "absentee Congressman". Kucinich will face Republican candidate Jim Trakas in the general election in November.

The victory came as the media blasted Kucinich. The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Free Times, and Scene Magazine all supported other candidates. Those publications clearly did not share the same views as his constituents, however, as the Congressman's office is known for being helpful to those who need assistance in times of need. Labor in the area came to Kucinich's aid as well, and was most likely the decisive factor in him once again winning the primary election.

At the campaign rally, where raucous Kucinich supporters held a victory party, the Congressman thanked the crowd for the hard work they put into to getting him reelected.

Cimperman, who was the most funded opponent in the race and gained the backing of the largest newspaper in the state, said:

"We took someone who ignored the district for 12 years and made him pay attention."

Now it comes time for the general election where the Cleveland Congressman will likely face the media backlash that he has grown accustom too. But once again, he will likely win by a wide margin despite that fact.
