Luxury Cruises Now Available on the Amazon River in Peru

Luxury cruises are available to nearly any destination you can dream up, but up until now, they weren't available on the Amazon. A company by the name of Aqua Expeditions has just launched the very first luxury cruise on the Amazon, and the area once unfamiliar to such luxury will now get its taste of in-suite air conditioning, and fabulous 280-thread count sheets.

The first ship to set sail on the Amazonian cruise is the M/V Aqua, which resembles a posh floating boutique hotel, complete with both indoor and outdoor lounges, a dining room, an observation deck, and a boutique.

As far as accommodations are concerned, there are just eight suites available, and four master suites that feature giant picture windows with 180-degree views of the river. With such few spots available onboard, you can be sure that it will be an intimate experience in one of South America's most beautiful natural wonders. The small size of the ship also guarantees that open spots will be in high demand, and as such, if a cruise on the Amazon interests you, you'll want to book your reservations as soon as possible.

The cruise trips themselves are organized around the Flooded season (June - November) and the Dry Season (December - May). There are trips available for three, four, and seven nights, and all begin in Iquitos, Peru, and center on a visit to the five million acre Pacaya Samiria Reserve, a remote sanctuary for exotic wildlife including jaguars, pink dolphins, monkeys, and more.

Rates are actually pretty affordable, and start at $1950 a person.
