BMW Preparing Hybrid Formula One Race Car

According to the Wall Street Journal, BMW AG is currently developing hybrid technology to be used in a Formula One race car that will hit the track in 2009. The BMW team is responding to new regulations presented by Formula One's governing body which will allow them to boost the power of their cars using fuel-saving technologies.

Mario Theissen, director of motor sport at BMW, told the reporters today, "From 2009 BMW will use hybrid technology in Formula One."

The new rules were issued to make certain that the only way Formula One teams can increase the power of their engines is through making new fuel-saving technologies. It is hoped that this will in turn give a boost to research into technologies that may be used in the broader car industry to cut down carbon dioxide emissions that cause global warming.

BMW is exploring regenerative breaking, which is when electricity is generated in the breaks as the car slows and is stored in batteries of supercapacitors and can be released as needed to drive electric motors that add acceleration on top of the gas engine. BMW is also toying with individual components including supercapacitors and lithium ion batteries.

BMW plans to have the car ready for testing this summer.

Even if BMW prepare a brand new formula one car, they have nothing to do against Ferrari or McClaren.

This is one brilliant race car I've ever seen. I've seen many formula one race cars when I was in Hongkong watching a race, but this one is a WOW!

I think it was a successful move BMW ans i am sure that they will introduce some more new technologies in coming years.

Its good to see BMW is preparing such type of Race car.But i would like to share that car buyers are now focusing to buy second hand cars from popular Japanese Used Cars dealer .
