Pringles Can Designer Buried in His Own Creation

Dr. Fredric J. Baur, who died at the age of 89 on May 4th, requested his family ensure his final resting place was inside his most famous creation - the Pringles chip can. His family honored the request, having his ashes buried in the iconic Pringles tube at Arlington Memorial Gardens near Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Baur, a retired chemist, was working at Procter & Gamble in 1970 as a food storage technician when he patented the design for the chip's container. His daughter Linda told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the Pringles packaging was his "proudest accomplishment."

He invented several other products, but none went over as well as the Pringles can.

The Pringles can was placed inside a traditional urn, and Dr. Baur now rests on the shelves at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Springfield Township, Ohio.
