Concert Celebrating 90th Birthday of Nelson Mandela to be Televised by VH1

Last year it was Live Earth that was the big televised summer music production of the summer and this year it will be "The 46664 Concert Hounouring Nelson Mandela at 90" which will be held in London. The show will be telvised by VH1 and will be hosted by Will Smith. Acts like Queen, Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, Razorlight, and Simple Minds will pay tribute to the 11th 11th President of South Africa and was jailed for decades because of his stance against apartheid. The show will also focus on one of today's greatest challenges as it will focus its attention on bringing awareness to HIV prevention.
"Nelson Mandela epitomizes strength and courage around the world. He has come to symbolize hope, working tirelessly through his 46664 organization to raise awareness about the impact of AIDS, especially in Africa, and promote HIV prevention measures globally," said Tom Calderone, VH1's Executive Vice President, General Manager. "We at VH1 have a long history of proactively engaging our viewers in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion and are eager to share the celebration with music fans across the U.S."
The concert will start streaming on the VH1.com on June 27th with the highlights being aired on June 30th as part of a 2 hour special. The name of the show, 46664, was taken from the prison number Mandela was assigned when he spent decades of his life behind bars in Cape Town.
