"Dark Knight" Sets New Box Office Record for Reaching $300 Million

The latest installment in the Batman film series, "The Dark Knight", is already a resounding smash hit. This weekend it continued to crush box office records, surpassing the $300 million mark in only 10 days.

The previous was set in 2006 by Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", which took 16 days to reach the magic $300M mark.

"The Dark Knight" already broke several other records in its first week, for best opening weekend at $158.4 million and best single-day with $66.4 million.

Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., said on Sunday that the Batman flick grossed $75.6M in its second weekend in theaters, putting its domestic total at $314,245,000.
