Rotar Cuff Injury Will Sideline Maria Sharapova From Olympics and US Open

Russian tennis superstar Maria Sharapova annouced today that she has will miss the US Open. This comes one day after ruling herself unfit from the Olympics that start next week.
On her website, the third ranked player in the world wrote:
“I am going to work hard to get healthy. I am going to do some extra work for my amazing sponsors who are always patient with me while I am playing tournaments and training. And I’m going to work on some business projects that I never have time to do, which will definitely keep me busy.”
Sharapova has been playing with a partially torn rotar cuff since April.
Vera Zvonareva, the 11th ranked player in the world, will take Sharapova's place on the Russian Olympic team.
