Chanel Grad Steve Cargile Someone to Root for During Browns-Jets Game

While your watching the Cleveland Browns take on the New York Jets tomorrow you should pay close attention to defensive back Steve Cargile, who wears number 38 for the Browns, as he attempts to make the 2008 roster. Cargile was born in Akron and played his high school career at St Peter Chanel in the Cleveland suburb of Bedford.

Cargile had a standout career at Columbia University, and has bounced around the NFL with short stints the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys. Cargile finally got a big chance two seasons ago with the Denver Broncos where he played a key part of their special teams unit and reserve role as a safety on the defensive side of the ball. The 6' 2'' 210 pound Cargile appeared in 12 games for the Broncos last year and registered 7 tackles on special teams which was fifth best on the team in '08.

The Browns picked up the Buckeye state native in late April last year as the 26 year old attempts to live a childhood dream and play for the NFL team in his hometown. Sean Jones and Rodney Pool head the the list on the Browns depth chart at safety while Mike Adams, Nick Sorensen, and Cargile all compete for backup roles at the position.

After his playing days are over Cargile looks to be pretty well set. He holds a economics degree from Ivy League's Columbia University. But Cargile's main focus right now is on the gridiron where he looks to become a Cleveland Brown and fulfill a lifelong dream.
