King of Gay Media Won't Support Barack Obama
First he alienated die-hard Hillary Clinton supporters by choosing Joe Biden as his vice presidential running mate. Now Barack Obama has potentially alienated another segment of the Democratic Party - gays and lesbians.
Paul Colichman, a gay media heavyweight, was going to financially contribute to Obama's campaign, but backed out once Obama "threw the gay community under the bus", describing marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
Colichman was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton, but came around to Obama last week after getting over his disappointment that the New York senator did not get the nomination.
Speaking to PageSix, Colichman, who founded the gay TV network Here!, said:
"I thought, 'Get over yourself!' I had literally written out a check to the Obama campaign. And then I saw him in front of an evangelical group in Anaheim."
But just because he's not supporting Obama, Colichman says that doesn't mean he's backing Republican John McCain. And he isn't overly concerned that in withholding support for Obama that he'd be helping McCain win the White House:
"If we always vote for the lesser of two evils, if we accept their crumbs and platitudes, if we write checks to candidates who don't stand up for us, aren't we being self-destructive?"
The question now is, will the gay community follow Colichman's lead and pull support from Obama, or will they vote for what they believe is the lesser of two evils?

I am voting for Nader....
Finally - somebody gets it!
Both parties take their core supporters for granted. Republicans know that the religious right will always vote for them, and Dems can always count on minority and GLBT votes. Meanwhile they both cater to the lukewarm middle and as Mr. Colichman says, throw their core supporters under the bus.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! As long as you only plan to vote on the lesser of two evils, that is all either party is going to provide. Vote for somebody (or some party) you believe in - if enough of us did this, we would no longer be held hostage by a broken two-party system that is only interested in keeping power to itself.
NEVER NEVER NEVER
I am gay and will NEVER NEVER NEVER vote for Barack Obama. I will be voting for McCain in November. I wasn't a Hilary supporter.
In my Opinion, and it is just that....an opinion, I don't believe that Barack's foreign policy, which I believe is one of our most important assets, is strong enough to take us through the next four years. I believe he would be pushes around by the Senate here in our country due to his inexperience on foreign issues.
Sorry, I just need a president with a PROVEN backbone. I hate that McCain is my only choice. My support would have been for Rudy Giuliani hands down. Hopefully he'll run again in the next election.
I am from San Francisco and
I am from San Francisco and won't vote for Obama because he wouldn't take his picture with Mayor Newsom (who is gay). Obama is a self-serving creep!
Gay?
Mayor Newsome is NOT Gay. He is straight and a strong supporter of Gay rights, which makes his support even nore important..
That is just gay.
That is just gay.
Wow.
Who could be so critical like that on people just different from him? I won't and will NEVER vote for Obama. He's making a huge mistake losing TONS of voters of something he wouldn't thin would be a big deal.
OBAMA CAN GO SUCK COCKS FOR ALL I CARE DDD:<
Oh please... all these
Oh please... all these anti-HRC, anti-Obama posts are from republican trolls... does anyone seriously think the gay community is going to allow McCain or any other republican appoint ANYONE to the Supreme Court... oh you silly republicans... won't you ever learn! Your short reign of 8 years is nearly over - You have no power here, now begone!
