Iraq War Veteran's Widow Sues US Government for His Suicide
Tiera Woodward, the widow of Donald Woodward, filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. government on Monday over her husband's suicide.
Woodward, a 23-year-old, Iraq war veteran from Pennsylvania, committed suicide in March 2006 after seeking help for depression at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lebanon, a town about 25 miles east of Harrisburg, PA. His widow blames the VA for failing to provide Donald with adequate mental health care, despite two earlier suicide attempts.
In the lawsuit filed Monday, documents indicate that Woodward served in combat in Iraq from March to August of 2003. The VA has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
