Cleveland Cavaliers Fall to Toronto as NBA's Pre-Season Tips Off
Nearly 19,000 basketball fans headed down to Quicken Loans Arena tonight to watch the Cavaliers start their pre-season against the Toronto Raptors. It looked like the Cavaliers were going to send the hometown crowd happy as they led by 8 at the half but the reserves couldn't get the job done and Toronto prevailed 104-84 when the final horn sounded.
The Cavaliers only employed the services of LeBron James for about 8 minutes as the Olympic athlete was rested by the team for most of the game. Zydrunas Ilgauskas led all Cavs with 16 points while Daniel Gibson and newly aquired Mo Williams chipped in 12 for the club.
Willie Solomon, a rookie out of Clemson University, led the Raptors with 17 points on 6-11 shooting and added four assists. 23 year old center Andrea Bargnani contributed 15 for the Raptors while Kris Humphries dropped in 14.
The Cavaliers continue to prep for the season on Friday when they travel to Providence to play the Boston Celtics on Friday. The game can be heard locally on WTAM 1100.
