Sarah Palin Offered $7 Million Book Deal
Had the GOP won the presidental election, Sarah Palin would have made little over $200,000 per year as vice president. It seems, however, that not winning the election and the mere fact that she ran as John McCain's running mate was enough to net her an even better offer. The Times has reported that Palin has been offered $7 millions to pen a biography and 7-week memoir on the campaign trail. With figures like that, that comes to roughly $1 million per week that she spent campaigning, and writing a book is far less stressful than the job she would have had as VP.
When Palin was announced as McCain's running mate, she was relatively unknown to the non-Alaskan masses. The Times suggests that Palin is following in Obama's footsteps, whose book "The Audacity of Hope" is what they called his springboard to the presidency. By letting us know about herself through the book, allowing her intelligence to shine through, and gaining sympathy as a working mother, she might just be able to snag a ticket in the next presidential election.
It's also rumored that talk shows and numerous other opportunities have been offered to Palin, and that the book deal should be finalized by the end of the month.

Gov. Palin is being offered a book deal because she is a public curiosity and spectacle, not because she has anything substantive to say. Her book will sell because people love to have someone to hate and they want to see what she says that will contribute to her demise.

Sounds like fear and sour grapes to me. I suspect major publishing companies would not ventuer a $7M advance predicated upon "curiosity and spectacle" book sales.
It's very clear that Palin represents a very new face among high-profile women politicians. She was a sensation at the RNC convention and during the campaign. People saw a bright, energetic, principled woman with conservative views much like those of Reagan. THAT'S what publishers will be counting on to sell books, and NOT "curiosity and spectacle".

I knew she was all there for herself, it was not for Mcain at all. She was there for her own publicity. Sarah you are not ready yet, Maybe another 20 years, when you turn 60. If someone gets that much coaching, I could even run for the VP.

I find it very hard to believe my eyes & ears regarding the level of ignorance and ill-will bordering on hatred displayed by many democrat & GOP pin-heads and some misinformed 'common' people towards Governor Sarah Palin after the election.....
When picked for the vp slate in the recent elections, advisors of Senator McCain forced her into a political strait-jacket, completed with muzzle as well (-to be on the 'safe' side, eh ?).
She did not get a chance to do herself justice and during the after-math these same advisors turned against her trying to pin the blame on HER for not winning the presidency......pathetic COWARDS, I say !
-In reality, Sarah Palin seems to be a very bright, hard-working, competent & thoroghly honest person in her twin roles ; -as a public person/politcian as well as in motherhood : She performed stupendously when whistle-blowing on the political party big shots, while serving in the Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Comission AND as Mayor of Wassila AND as Alaska State Governor !
She now seems to have a GREAT political future and of course there are some coming out of the wood-work in an effort to smear her in the public eye, but I´m positive Governor Palin will overcome all that and emerge in a year or two as the new come-back kid for all the U.S.A. -weather YOU like it or not !
I wish her all the best for the future and am waiting for great things to come from Sarah Palin.

John McCain would be President elect today if this woman had had 2 years like Mr Obama to learn her talking points. Two months on the national level and she pulled in 56+ million votes and thats with Obama spenting $600 million dollars, campaigning for 2 years and the mainstream media in the tank. Two years...
is not nearly enough time for Palin to "learn her talking points." The whole point regarding her is that you have to have more than talking points. You have to actually understand what you are saying and then, hopefully, have be capable of forming some cogent ideas regarding how to react based on what know. This is something that, for Palin, cannot be learned.
