Transcript: Romeo Crennel's Postgame Quotes After Browns Victory Over Bills

Romeo Crennel spoke to the media on a range of topics from Phil Dawson's 57 yard field goal attempt to Jerome Harrison's electrifying 70 yard touchdown run yesterday after the Cleveland Browns downed the Buffalo Bills in an exciting game on Monday Night Football. Here is exactly what the head coach of the winning team said following the game.
(Opening Comments)
We feel very fortunate to be able to come up here in Buffalo, and play a good Buffalo team in a tough environment, because that crowd was really into it, and it’s Monday Night Football, so we were just fortunate that we were able to win the game.”
The game had some ebbs and flows, like a lot of games do, and we talked to our players all during the week about ‘you never know which play makes a difference in the game, so you have to play all of them like it’s the last play, like it’s the most important play’ and I think my guys did that tonight. They played hard, they didn’t quit. They kept going and were able to win it at the end.
Overall I think, the guys, they hung in there, they played as a team. It wasn’t all pretty, but it was good enough on this night. So we have another one next week – a short week. We need to try to win at home…that’s what we need to try to do. That’s going to be the focus – to try to get a home win for us.”
(On Phil Dawson)
You can’t say enough about Phil Dawson and what he’s meant to this team and what he’s been able to accomplish in his career. To hit a 57-yarder tonight, the game winner, that was tremendous.
(Decision to kick 57 yard FG)
The decision was that if you don’t kick it and you go for it and don’t make it, you’re not going to win. But if you kick it and you make it, then you’re ahead in the game, and so that was the deal. We felt that it was within his range and so we decided to try it.
(On Brady Quinn)
You know, Brady hung in there pretty good. I think he got a few different looks tonight that he didn’t see last week. He got a little bit more pressure on him, but overall I think he handled it pretty good. A couple times, he was getting hit as he threw, so that impacted some of those throws. When he had time, he was able to complete some balls and guys made some plays for him.
(What did you say to Brady Quinn before two minute drill)
I said it was the same situation as last week. We needed a score – we needed at least a field goal. I think he knows that the quarterbacks that are going to be good in this league, they have to be able to move the team and produce in that situation.
(On Jerome Harrison)
Jerome, every time we hand the ball to him, he does pretty good. I know he was sitting over there on the side for a little while, then we got him into the game and he was able to make several big plays for us. We’re going to keep using him from time to time and let him help us like he did tonight.
(Will the team continue to fight)
I hope that this is a sign. So far, our M.O. this year has been you win a tough one and the next week doesn’t go as well. The focus needs to be to try to put as much effort into next week as we did into this week.
