Obama Admits He Hasn't Been Successful in Kicking His Nicotine Habit

Perhaps the stress of running for President was just too much, or the weight his impending presidency has gotten to him, but whatever the case is, Barack Obama hasn't been successful in keeping his pledge to conquer his nicotine addiction. Obama admitted Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" to having "fallen off the wagon".

Obama still sneaks a smoke from time to time, and in his Meet the Press interview yesterday, left himself some wiggle-room for when he moves into the White House.

He famously gave up the habit as he hit the campaign trail, but Obama admits to having bummed a few cigs on the road. When moderator Tom Brokaw asked whether he'd finally kicked the habit, Obama said:

You know, I have, but what I said was that, you know, there are times when I've fallen off the wagon."

"Then that means you haven't stopped," quipped Brokaw.

Obama replied, "Fair enough. What I would say is that I have done a terrific job under the circumstances of making myself much healthier and that I think you'll not see any violations of these rules in the White House."

Since 1992, the White House has been smoke-free . Then- First Lady Hillary Clinton made the initial edict, and it has stayed that way since. Although her husband Bill was known to light up a cigar or two on a balcony.
