Cowher Tells Browns Lerner "Thanks, But No Thanks"

Sorry Cleveland Browns fans, "The Chin" is not going to gracing the sidelines for your team next year. Bill Cowher, the former Browns assistant who moved on to the Pittsburgh Steelers who had been rumored, to be the top choice of the franchise to replace Romeo Crennel turned down Randy Lerner when he was approached in a meeting on Saturday night. Lerner told the Cleveland press at their headquarters in Berea that Cowher does not have any intentions of coaching a team in the 2009 season.
Lerner also ruled out Mike Holmgren. On the radar for the club to coach the team in 2009 are New Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Eric Mangini. Lerner added that Scott Pioli will be interviewed for the vacancy at General Manager after receiving permission to talk to him by his current employer the Patriots.
