Sarah Palin's Daughter Gives Birth to Baby Boy

Alaskan governor Sarah Palin is officially a grandmother. Palin's 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, gave birth Sunday to a healthy 7lb 4oz baby boy in Palmer Alaska. Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother Sally Heath, confirmed the news:

"We think it's wonderful," said Jones, "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

According to Jones, the baby is named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. Tripp gets his surname from father Levi Johnston, who has been dating Bristol for three years.

Levi is an apprentice electrician, and a former hockey player at Wasilla High School. Bristol currently resides in Wasilla, and is completing her high school diploma through correspondence courses.

Johnston said in October that he and Bristol plan to get married in 2009, and that they will raise the child together.

Some reports say he was born

Some reports say he was born Sunday, others Saturday -- in either case, on a day with few people in the hospital. Obviously, no real reporting on this, just repetition of announcements made by the family. No medical reports again, or any evidence -- how do we know it is even hers, and that she didn't just adopt it?
