USPS Unveil New 2009 Stamps Which Include Cleveland Legend Bob Hope


The United Postal Service today released some of the stamps that you will be able to purchase next year. Among the stamps are acting legend Bob Hope who grew up in Shaker Heights, along with Gary Cooper, and Abraham Lincoln.

A collection of three states are being released in 2009 commentating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii and Alaska being admitted into the United States, and Oregon's 150th year in the Union.

In January Lunar New Year: Year of the Ox and Edgar Allan Poe 200th birthday will be celebrated.

To coiencide with Black History Month, a collection of stamps will feature leaders in the rights movements will go on sale in February.Also in Feburary, graduates of Miami of Ohio will want to collect a stamped card in the Historic Preservation series. The image on the card depicts MacCracken Hall, a residence hall located on the South Quad of Miami University’s main campus in Oxford.

A collection of popular television shows will adorn images of " I Love Lucy", "Dragnet", "You Bet Your Life", "Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "Ed Sullivan Show," "George Burns & Gracie Allen Show," "Hopalong Cassidy," "The Honeymooners," "Howdy Doody," "Kukla, Fran and Ollie," "Lassie," "The Lone Ranger," "Perry Mason," "Phil Silvers Show," "Red Skelton," "Texaco Star Theater," "Tonight Show" and "Twilight Zone."

Stamp prices will remain at 42 cents until May. The rates will then adjust with inflation using the consumer price index.
