Ohio Woman Suing LA Police for Using Her as a Jamie Lynn Spears Decoy

Adessa Eskridge, a pretty blond from Ohio, was used as a decoy for Jamie Lynn Spears by Los Angeles airport police attempting to fool paparazzi. They reportedly never told her what they were planning to do, and now she's filed a lawsuit against them and is seeking damages.

Eskridge, 27, is seeking more than $100,000 from the city over the hoax at LAX in September, said her Houston-based lawyer Chuck Vernon.

Vernon says that a group of six to eight uniformed cops pulled Eskridge from Jamie Lynn's flight on September 11, 2008, told her to keep her sunglasses on and marched her to baggage claim through a mass of paparazzi as if she really were Britney Spear's younger sister.

"They didn't ask her, they told her. They said, 'You're going to help us,' and she was stunned, just obeying the police. The only time they mentioned Jame Lynn's name was on the escalator, three seconds before paparazzi surrounded her," said Vernon.

Eskridge flew to LA for a college football game and says she felt "publicly humiliated" when video of her supposedly acting as Jamie Lynn filled the gossip sites.

Vernon said that if they city rejects her claim, she'll sue, and he vows to file a lawsuit citing false arrest and negligent infliction emotional distress if it is rejected.

"For police to protect a celebrity and treat an innocent, normal person the way they did, there should be compensation," said Vernon.
