PETA Campaigning to Rename Fish as "Sea Kittens" in a Bid to Improve their Image
As much as it sounds like one, this is not a joke. The over-zealous animal lovers over at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, are now campaigning to get the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to change the name of fish to "sea kittens".
PETA would like to change the name in order to improve the image of fish as a species.
On the PETA webpage entitled "Save the Sea Kittens!", PETA claims that "People don’t seem to like fish” and that “we’re going to start by retiring the old name for good.” They are urging their members to sign a petition that asks the US Fish and Wildlife Service to stop the "hunting of sea kittens (otherwise known as fishing)."
PETA makes the arguement that "Sea kittens are just as intelligent (not to mention adorable) as dogs and cats, and they feel pain just as all animals do."
They're also a source of food for many parts of the world, and the word "fish" is used everywhere from books to menus. Changing the name from "fish" to "sea kitten" will never happen, and I'm sure the US Fish and Wildlife Service is having a good laugh already, as would the rest of the world if our government would ever be so stupid as to honor PETA's request.

Wow, those people just have nothing better to do! Maybe while they are at it, they can get Planned Parenthood to call "fetuses" "babies" and maybe women would stop aborting them............nah, its more important to save the fish! Well, off to Red Lobster to have some sea kittens now!

And I can't be the only one out there who only buys beer to make up a good batter for assorted uhhh fish. I'm no biology major, but I have kittens and they are covered in fur. Fish they ain't got no fur. Even the ones that live in Alaska have scales. And let me tell you about the sea kitten that got away, just doesn't sound right.

Someone or some organization is constantly trying to shove their way of life or beliefs down the throats of Americans. Homosexuals, atheists, left wing loons, you name it. PETA has been at it for decades. I am a member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) since I have been off Pablum. I don't believe the pronouncements of PETA are newsworthy.
