Many Making Too Much, Too Many Making Nothing
While some people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and feed and clothe themselves and their children too many are living too high in these desperate economic times.
They’re doing it on public’s money, too.
I’d say that all city Mayors, County Commissioners, City Council members and high-level department and cabinet members should be taking at minimum 10 percent cuts.
These dire times demand it.
It was laughable to read in the Plain Dealer that Ohio State University top administrators will not take raises and bonuses this year.
La di da. How generous! Are we supposed to genuflect in respect?
With E. Gordon Gee’s compensation package at $1 million, I’d say it’s give back time, not stand pat.
Not only Gee but Provost Joseph Alutto, too. He has a base salary, according to the PD, of a half million dollars. There are 288 OSU employees making a base salary of $200,000 or more.
No wonder ordinary people can’t afford college tuitions.
We have to do something about corporate salaries, too.
The entire economic system has become too unjust to allow it to continue.
We can start with public officials and pressure them to bring some justice to the private sector. Those who want to make tens of millions of dollars a year should be taxed at rates that do justice to their greed.
Let’s start, however, with public officials because we pay them.

You're a b-buster, Roldo Bartimole! Right on the money with this one.
There's absolutely no accountbility. Keep swinging, Mr. Bartimole.
You are making an impact.
I agree with you; however they have essentially cut-off the peoples voice and access to info. Consider that I am only the 2nd person to leave a response here. Look at the Sunday or Saturday PD and read the letters to editor. The topics are judisciously hand selected and much of what people write about is never printed. Why stop with 10% pay cuts for these pompous clowns at state universities, why not 40-50% pay cuts. If they can't live on that, something is wrong. Their degrees do not entitle them. Many people with similar degrees are standing in employment lines.
Superintendants of school districts also play the shell game. It used to be the highlight of a long career---now being a super is a career. These folks bounce from one district to another---inside the loop---with no special credentials other than an endorsement that took a few extra worthless grad school courses to get. There are too many governmet administrators, on the dole, more or less.
What about county commissioners that have meetings in State Park Lodges to plan their next phase of attack. Why don't we eliminate this useless system of county government---or at the least slash their salaries, and take away their power to raise "fees" and/or taxes without a vote by the people----what they have created borders on fascism. Every politico (R or D) talks out of both sides of their mouth. When they can no longer get elected, they are hired as lobbyists---and teach corporate interests the ins-and-outs of raping the people, since they have insider knowledge. Their families all work the "inside track" as well. Frankly, I don't understand what it is going to take for the American people to change all this. Voting them out of office is like waiting for the sheep to be fleeced once again. The system has to be changed structurally.
The rotten PUCO does nothing to limit utility costs, and hey, why are people being charged for water use in the Great Lakes? Water is required to sustain life. The founding fathers would be rolling over laughing at all this. Jefferson was right, all you need to destroy democracy is an uneducated populace. I guess we've arrived. And worthless Obama, is beholden to the WTO. Someone needs to disban the WTO, World Bank, and all the other neo-fascist global capitalist organizations that have the USA kissing their butts. April 2nd is the next big meeting----when will Americans say enough is enough?
Ripped, i totally agree with you. The rotten PUCO does nothing to limit utility costs
