Dylan Ratigan Leaving CNBC's "Fast Money", Tirade Caught on Tape
When will the television people learn? Even though you're technically on commercial break, the cameras are still rolling, readying to capture your off-air tirades and diva-like behavior for a later leak to the media or YouTube. Dylan Ratigan is the latest victim, having been caught on camera during a commercial break yelling at a producer.
Ratigan, CNBC's host of the show "Fast Money" is quitting, supposedly over disagreements with Susan Krakower, the VP for strategic programming and development who co-created "Fast Money" with Ratigan. A source revealed to Page Six that Krakower "is partially responsible for this. She's been ignoring him for months and he couldn't get the attention he deserved."
The video tape of him ranting at a producer on commercial break also isn't helping matters over at CNBC:
Don't ask me to talk about every [bleep]ing e-mail that comes up on the screen. I'm not going to host a [bleep]ing TV show that consists of reading [bleep]ing e-mails to [bleep]ing traders," shouted Ratigan.
He then accuses Krakower of never addressing his concerns in private:
"You know what, Susan, I'm in the middle of hosting a show right now, so now is an unwelcome time to hear your voice . . . If you want to pull me off the show, please do. You are] rude and disrespectful. . . . You lie to me routinely."
Sadly, the video hasn't yet been posted on YouTube. But as soon as it is, we'll be sure to post it here.
Today is rumored to be Ratigan's last day on the show. Other sources say that his contract expires Wednesday and he's talking with other networks. CNBC rep Brian Steel refused to say if Ratigan had quit or address possible negotiations.

What a shame losing Dylan. He is truly one of the smartest ,most articulate hosts on CNBC. I will likely follow him if he moves to another network. You should do what you can to keep him.

I agree if Fox has any brains they will hire him and than we can all watch him there
Dylan is the best
Dylan is the best. He explained everything so you could understand the situation.
I miss him and glad he is going to be on again but on another station. Fast Money is not the same. What a loss
Circumstances becomes different for every one so no problem with that.
This is a very informative article.I was looking for these things and here I found it. I am doing a project and this information is very useful me. If you are interested, but this is my duty to inform you that virtual administrative assistant a very dedicated service and can be applied anywhere you want and get better results.

Agreed, I will follow, he's no diva,...serious smarts. Lucky for whoever gets him,..I wonder what the others will do...too bad we live in a gotcha world
Ditto, I agree, the only reason I watched this show EVERY single day was Dylan. I will follow him wherever he goes. How stupid a business decision for a comapny not doing so well anyway.
Another great move by NBC/CNBC. What a bunch of idiots. They put the idiot Keith "Why Do I always Look Constipated" Olbermann on Sunday Night Football along two other losers -- Bob "Let Me Interject Something Heart Felt but Totally Meaningless" Costas and Chris "How Did these Marbles Get In My Mouth" Collingsworth. Dylan, in my opinion, is the best TV reporter on the air. He is smart, gets to the point and reports with accuracy and clarity. This totally inept broadcasting company is lucky to have Dylan. I read that Dylan's contract is coming up for renewal; FBN would be crazy not to open up the gold chest for this guy.
A rotten shame. Ratigan did a great job managing the desk and getting actionable ideas out of the traders. He will be missed. Hopefully, they don't quickly fill the spot with former fill-in Melissa Lee. Instead, a guy like Mike Baisley would bring a lot to the table.
If this is true, CNBC will probably cram another hour of Erin Burnett down our throat. Ratigan's questions usually ran longer than the answer given but he seems like he would say what we little guys were thinking but were not correct in this PC world.
Yess, I also pointed on this statement
Dylan Ratigan's departure is timely, given that he personally said yesterday (at the NYSE pit) that he was going to further investigate and bring greater media attention to Goldman Sachs receiving $50BN of insurance money from AIG, which was money funded by the American taxpayers.
I had a hunch Dylan would be let go. Other journalist needs to take up arms and speak for the pillaging of the American taxpayers. Dylan "leaving the show" may be partly due to conflicts with the producer, but given that their acerbic relationship has been ongoing, it leads me to believe that higher level executives and government officials had something to Dylan's departure.
I was thinking the same thing. Dylan might have been told to leave. He was upset about the way the American people were being treated and how greed took us all down. What a shame. I really liked his way. I miss him on all the shows he did.
The world is filled with folks that can make a sensible sentence in fewer than 350 words. Beeb baa baa beeb. Goodbye Porky pig.
Ever since the Santelli tea party, it has been very noticeable that NBC Universal is looking for
"something positive...."; Erin Burnett
"mustard seeds...."; every one of the anchors EXCEPT Mark Haines, Dylan, Rick.
its as if that fat bastard in White House (press secretary)...called up a friend at NBC Universal and said, get these guys off our backs. (probably TARP related with GE!!!!)
SOCIALISM.
sold all ge stock. 20,000 shares will never buy back ! cnbc and ge
including .........m. lee and production makes me sick
A program has success and the moderator thinks he's the reason.
He's not the brains on this show. He's consistently rude and dominating.
Don't let the door hit you in the butt Dylan.....you screwed up a good gig
for yourself.
Sounds like nothings changed. He even managed to look like an idiot when interviewing a racist teabagger! I wish someone would get this big-headed jerk off the tv.
He was on there less than a month ago when I went and listened to all of them.
Dylan IS pushy and he IS aggressive and yes, he is also smart. However, he works for NBC and it's obvious he's a liberal. There is no way a greedy corporate entity like NBC would tolerate an outspoken liberal. Dylan should have a radio show - his own - with an accompanying blog. Then he can say whatever the hell he pleases and not worry about upsetting the corporate pigs.
I hope he doesn't go over to FOX because that would be the ultimate sellout. His next move might be the real test of his true political beliefs.
Who cares about his political beliefs? He is a reporter and therefore we should never know his politics. I like him because he posed questions that I wanted to ask. There were some that sounded decidely left and some that sounded decidely right. But always what the average person wanted to ask. Let the man alone. As long as he is reporting on economic or business matters, I will listen to what he has to say.
im baffled by a few of the other commenters, notably the one saying ratigan is "articulate" - the guy mumbles and studders as much as he forces out his awkward one liners. he's great at pushing the show to the 'actionable' angle, but so are many of the rest of the cnbc anchors who will fill in nicely starting tomorrow.
DR was one of the few hosts on the crappy network that is CNBC who could play devil's advocate very well, and was a great host (not a clueless market cheerleader). I have no reason to watch FM (as it's horrible w/o him), and thus no reason to watch CN-BS. Best wishes to his new endeavors. I look forward to wherever he goes.
To the Daily Show!!
NBC is a puppet of GE and Imelt who deals with Iran against the interests of the USA. I say fire Susan Krakower and all the parasites of George Soros. I hope Dylan goes to Fox News where his talents and fresh ideas would be appreciated. And while you are at it, get rid of Keith Olberman, what a blathering idiot he is, especilally reporting football, he's an insult to all the fans who have to put up with his stupid rhetoric.
@justin: Agreed! Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are the worst. Cant even stand the sight of that blithering idiot Olbermann and the dyke looking flat chested Maddow looks like her genes got very confused.
Back to CNBC: Nothing but a mix of boring, lifer journalists who won't go away from the bubble days. Then you have the newer hires, who are just lame, except for the female eye candy. The women are hired for their chest size and good looks, that's about it. Erin got hired before the chest size requirements went into place, so she's grandfathered in.
I'd say about 95% of the people CNBC will interview will not help you as a trader or investor. The absolute worst is that Peter Costa on the floor of the NYSE. He wins the prize as the idiot du jour! Why do they constantly talk to that idiot who has been bullish throughout a historic drop. How he has any capital or credibility left is beyond me.
Dylan, good luck to you. I didn't always agree with you, but as the financial crisis came to light, you turned around and spoke your mind on FM. Maybe this is what bothered CNBC execs, and if so, shame on them. They are losing in ratings, and losing talent. All that starts at the top.
Wow, You are a real moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who speaks without sheer adulation of Obama and his goon squad are and will be feeling the long reaches of Obama's handlers! Just like in communist countries! We are not stupid and there is unrest rumbling all across America!
Ratigan is very smart and there will be a huge void! I agree, whoever gets him will be lucky and I will be watching!
Grow some kohonas, CNBC! Stand up to Big Bro' in the White House!
It’s a shame and a funny coincidence that right when Dylan started to see the light and begin to really criticize/question the “Thanes”, “Duncans”, “Martins” etc. of the financial world that he is literally disappeared from CNBC (see Fast Money website photo). To bad it could not have been some other reporter there who continually uses “Clown Like” gimmicks that appear to make investing a fun game for all the kiddies watching instead of the hard core , cut throat battle that it truly is. Am wondering if the recent Jon Stewart revelations/accusations of CNBC helped Saint Dylan to finally see the light and instruct his conscience to do/say the right thing?
If this is true, and Dylan is leaving.. CNBC will have one less viewer -- me
what a freaking joke CNBC has become... I have noticed that Rick Santelli is now much more toned down and even complimenting the messaih's cheat-the-taxpayers plan. Dylan, Santelli and Charlie G. were the only people to call out bankers and Washington DC for the crooks that they are..
I hope Santelli and Charlie G leave CNBC as well, that unit was the only remaining unit of the National Barack Channel had some credibility left... now.. its nothing but a mouth piece for the messaih's cheat-the-american-taxpayer plan.
I will be cancelling CNBC from my satellite dish on Monday.... Bloomberg is the only one left.. (that is until Mr. Obama and Wall St. bullies them into silence as well)
forgot to add... I do hope Dylan goes to bloomberg or maybe fox business news (yes, they have issues as well.. but at least they don't pretend to be unbiased)
as for CNBC.. a unit of NBC..who is owned by GE.. seriously.. why is anyone surprised that GE, which has received huge amounts of money via the messaih's kingdom in DC got Dylan fired b/c he was critizing their cash cow..
what a freaking joke CNBC has turned into!
I hope larry kudlow, charlie G. and rick santelli grow a spine and leave the C-National-Barack-Channel when their contracts are done.. .. they won't have a contract.. but at least they will still have some journalist integrity left.
Dylan's leaving CNBC is a real loss as he was willing to be more critical of some of the dishonest or questionable behaviors displayed on Wall Street and he took the time to make sure the viewers understood the issues that were being discussed by guests or the Fast Money traders.
As for some of the comments in this thread complaining about the liberal bias of CNBC, I guess we hear what we want to hear. I find too many of the anchors seem like they are using Fox News talking points to regularly criticize Obama policies and are far too willing to defend greedy and questionable behavior on Wall Street (accept for the designated villain, Bernie Madoff).
The radio interview in this story could be what led to his leaving... accusing everyone powerful of fraud.
http://kirklindstrom.blogspot.com/2009/03/dylan-ratigan-cnbc-fast-money-gone.html
Dylan Ratigan may have gotten too close to the truth with this radio interview where he compared the people making money at the major investment banks to the crooks at Enron. He gives very clear details how
Shame he's left really. He was a great anchorman and had good talent. I used to love watching him and Maria on closing bell and they really worked well together. I say bring Dylan back! Closing bell isn't the same without him!
I just realized that I hadn't seen Dylan on Fast Money. Thought he was still sick, until today when they announced that LOUD mouth, Melissa Lee as the, whatever she is. Her and Trish Ragan,sp.?, are the most irritating, rude loud mouths on this station. I am sick about the fact that Dylan is gone. I agree with most of these posts that it is more than just a little disgreement with the producer. This administration is trying to control every aspect of our lives. WE ALL BETTER STAND UP, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE !!!!!!
Are you clowns kidding with this "administration is responsible" for content at CNBC??? Jesus, no wonder you idiots have lost your way as a party and lost the election. The "greed is good" mentality is dead folks and Rush is a hypocritical, racist, moron.
On the topic, I am very sad to see Dylan go... I won't be watching Fast Money and I can guarantee that the traders on the desk will start slipping away from that show as volatility in the market fades. I really think this is good for Dylan... I could see him becoming one of the great news anchors in this country.
An administration that can confiscate companies and butters GE's bread could certainly influence network execs. Are you naive enough to believe they don't? Have you ever noticed how Cramer kisses O'Bama's butt? He praised O'Bama for changing his mind less than a week after making a strong anti-business speech. I guess Obama is smart enough to know he doesn't know JACK about business. And, apparently, neither do you!
It is really for the best that Dylan left CNBC as he had lost control of his emotions and was hurting the network and the country. What we need during these times are real journalists. I can name countless times he went into blind rages on the air calling CEOs morons and jackasses. This may be the case but as a journalist you have to report the facts and during such a crisis, Dylan failed miserably at this task. What happend to the giants like Reasoner, Wallace, Bradley and other real news journalists who vigorously investigated stories and reported all the facts in a professional manner. Our culture has lost its civility and Rattigan is one of the worst examples of this. Any network that hires him will make a huge mistake.... His career is over.....unless he starts the Morton Downey Jr show part 2....
Thats it buddy. You upset the liberal powers that be and you are toast. Just wait folks. They are already trying to crucify Rush Limbaugh and to silence any dissenting voices on talk radio as we head to a socialistic Amerika.
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money."- Margaret Thatcher
As a loyal viewer who absolutely railed when they moved you to 5pm instead of 6pm - I had more of a chance of seeing you after work - now you're gone completely! What a mistake they've made! You've taken us through such history and let us know that we weren't alone with our outrage of excesses and greed. I've learned more from you than anyone I know on "my next great play"and playing with the "big dogs". Dylan...I'd stand on a soap box with you anywhere! Find a new home buddy...I can't wait to see you again! Canadian Viewer
Bring Dylan back! He was/is a great moderator & kept the show in balance. I liked his opinions, convictions & sense of humor. There's a big ol' hole in the show w/o him there every day. Whatever the difficulties or politics - let those involved grow up & get over it & put him back on the program!!!
The main deterrent to honest, investigative reporting on corporate and Wall Street fraud is a reporter's fear of being fired. Dylan Rattigan, formerly of CNBC, found that out. He helped spread the news that Goldman Sachs has, in effect, been given billions, at least $13 billion, but probably much more, by the US taxpayer through the medium of AIG. Pauson, Geithner and the GS Chairman met secretly last September to set this up. Obama who got a million from Goldman as a campaign contribution-bribe and Larry Summers - who also got millions in honorariums-bribes in 2008 will not squarely face the obvious sinister and criminal abuses here at this meeting. Obama has been paid off. That's the logical conclusion one reaches when one listens to Rattigan.
The major networks could not allow one of their reporters to publicize this criminal theft, fraud and cover-up by the country;s top policy makers and Wall Street's biggest investment banker. But the truth is coming out. More and more see that Rattigan was right. "Goldman Sachs is the Greed Connection between Wall Street and Washingon", That's the title of the Blog I wrote on 4/9/2009 after listening to Rattigan. The truth will set us free, I surely hope. .
YOU FOLKS AT CNBC NEED TO SMARTEN UP AND BRING DYLAN BACK! I WILL MORE THEN LIKELY STOP WATCHING THE SHOW AND MANY OTHERS I KNOW WILL BE DOING THE SAME!!
FastMoney definately lost its Mojo with Dylan...I loved to see Dylan grill...but now they have replaced him with a ugly pig literally :(.
FAST MONEY has lost its lustre without Mr. Ratigan. Just look at the members of the panel--they are simply going through the motions! I disciplined myself to watch for the past few weeks, but not any more. My suggestion is to get rid of the producer and the new panel leader--neither has an ounce of charisma! Bring back Dylan, or viewers won't watch long enough to see Cramer, either!
Thats what happens when you leave women in charge. Leave it to the boys with balls and have the strength to speak with them.
Wondered what happened ,he was ok .except that when he made a comment, there was the inevitable aaaaaahhhh, pause, aaaaaaahhhhh, for a pro. educated broadcaster , you would have thought he could deliver without this continuous irritating bad habit. They reallly screwed up by putting that rotten toothed ,fish lipped know it all host M. Lee on instead. This stations female anchors also have the worst make - up painted mugs that I have ever seen ,other than whores and clowns!!
very talented man.. will be missed. hope he gets a better gig... hes cute too
Good riddance. That motor mouth never knew when to STFU. He thought he was the only one who knew how to speak English and was the smartest man in the room. He acted like a damn know it all and frequently drove over anyone he interviewed. It was nice to see one billionaire put him back in his place though once. It was Carl Icahn. Once on fast money, Carl told Dylan "blah, blah, blah, LET ME FINISH!" when Dylan tried to run over him.
And dont bring him back!
He is just being very specific, and demands a specific response to his query. If you note, many when asked beat around the bush, and Dylan hates it and tries to keep them from responding in a long winded and vague manner. It is brilliant once you understand his approach. Plus you have to be literate in the subject of discussion to understand what he is doing. If you have no clue, it will sounds like hes just blaberring and maybe you should watch something else. He will be missed.
Who is going to bring up the average man ethics missing in Wall Street and Washington. I hope a competitor picks him up so I can switch over. Fast Money is really boring now and not really well hosted. Can't someone have an opinion or be a loose cannon?
CNBC is gradually becoming really milk toast - happening across the network - 1st Chris Matthews, then Keith "blowhard" comes in and Rachel Maddow, the butch from the left. Where are the common sense liberals?
Time to get my news from the Net, and turn off TV.
