Tesla Motors Unveils Luxury Plug in Electric Car

California based auto maker Tesla Motors showed off their new car dubbed Model S yesterday at a press conference. The automaker wants to start producing the vehicle in two years and says it will priced at under $50,000 for the base model. The base battery will have a 160 mile range when fully charged and can be plugged in using a normal plug right from your own home. The top of the line battery pack will be able to travel at a distance of 300 miles per trip. The car looks dazzling and will be able to reach a top speed of about 130 mph. With fuel soaring of $2 a gallon again, consumers will be happy to hear that it will cost only $5 to drive 230 miles.

“Model S doesn’t compromise on performance, efficiency or utility -- it’s truly the only car you need,” said Tesla CEO, Chairman and Product Architect Elon Musk said in a press release. “Tesla is relentlessly driving down the cost of electric vehicle technology, and this is just the first of many mainstream cars we’re developing.”

Here is what Edmund's had to say about the Green Car that is turning heads:

To me it looks like a Buick with a Mazda3's grin.

This new electric car from Tesla is quite a definition of both innovation and luxury because it is powered by electricity, and it still has that style of elegant sports car which is different compare to other electric cars that is small and compact like the Prius and Leaf. I'm quite curious to see the engine, distributor and exhaust system of this electric car and observe how it perform on the road. I'm really excited to test drive one of this.

This car can even charged with 110 volt household outlet but that will take longer time, so car is come up with kit that connects 240 volt circuit and will charges the batteries in 3-4 hours.

I'm glad that Tesla Motors unveiled an electric car, with almost all the characteristics of a great vehicle. The fact that a green technology was used for this model proves once more that the big auto companies' wish is to slowly change the production chain. I hope that this model will benefit of a cheap car insurance. I would be more than happy if I could test this shinny model.

I like Edmund's modest presentation: "We have to admit:It's a pretty good looking car". I would like to add that this is an amazing car! A friend of mine, who sells Audi parts wanted badly to buy one, but he will wait until the price goes down a little bit. Tesla Motors will surely attract many customers with this model.
