Ohio Student Suspended for Attending Prom
17-year-old Tyler Frost says that he expects to be suspended from his Christian school for attending a public school prom with his girlfriend. Officials at Heritage Christian School in Findlay, Ohio warned him that he would be suspended and prohibited from attending graduation if he went to the dance this past Saturday.
Heritage Christian School is a fundamentalist Baptist school in northwest Ohio which forbids dancing, rock music, and hand holding.
Frost doesn't regret going to the prom, and said he went because he wanted to experience the prom and did not think it was wrong.
"It was fun, we had a good time. I'm glad I went. I still don't really agree with the school's decision, but it was worth it. I am ready to face the consequences," said Tyler Frost.
Officials at the school, however, see things a little differently. They are standing by their decision to suspend him, and said that he could complete his final exams separately to receive his diploma.
Frost's stepfather isn't about to let the school get away with it. He says that the rules shouldn't apply outside of school, and that he may take legal action if the school does not lift the suspension.

TEEN SUSPENSION FOR GOING TO GIRLFRIEND'S PROM
It's ridiculous that in today's society we still have such Neanderthal beliefs. He wanted to take his girlfriend to prom not to a motel and have sex with her. We have a lot more important things to worry about in this world than that. Please Heritage Christian School focus on what is really important. The only thing you are accomplishing is pushing these children away from God. They will think that if they believe in God they will not be able to act like normal teens and that is not true. So, again, focus on issues that are more important. If you need a list, I am sure we can all help you with that.
Please let these children grow up
First or all none of these children chose this religion and probibally not that school. If he is 17 that means he will be able to vote and fight for his country next year. Please let these kids start to grow up a little before they go to collage.
SUE THEM!!!!
He is not of legal age to sign a 'contract' and cannot at this point vote - he is a minor - most major credit card companies won't even issue a credit card to him. He's not old enough. Despite that fact, we're living in a world where gays can marry (WRONG!) and they're all up in arms about a young MAN going to prom with a young WOMAN????? No hand holding? Get a life....Read the story of the Florida priest who is going through the ringer because he has fallen in love with a FEMALE! He is a human being that wants to experience love, they should be thankful that the Catholic priest is with a female and not a little boy! These 'rules' are so outdated and ridiculous that I hope the family sues them so hard they'll think twice next time.
And...not being able to graduate with his class? That is that all about....stupid! It's all about them having control and these kids have NO idea how to live in reality after their little christian school stint is over...THAT is when they start getting into trouble because they've never had the chance to live...or make mistakes to learn by them.
These extremists need to get a life
Obviously, these extremist, fundamentalist Christians need to GET A LIFE. Suspending the kid from school for something as harmless as a prom? These clowns obviously never heard of Sydney Carter's Christian hymn 'Lord of the Dance'; 'Dance, Dance, Wherever you may be', it says.
If I were the kid's parents, I would seriously be contemplating a lawsuit against these Neanderthals (as Sarai properly referred to them). Extremist dogma such as that pushed by Heritage Christian School will turn young people AWAY from God, not towards Him.
