Rapper M.I.A. Gives American Audiences the Finger During Super Bowl Halftime Show

During the Super Bowl halftime show today in Indianapolis, which featured Madonna and other secondary acts, rapper M.I.A. flipped American audiences "the bird".

M.I.A. joined Madonna and Nicki Minaj on stage during the song "Give Me All Your Luvin", and clad in Cleopatra gear and black stiletto boots, she gave the middle-finger directly to a camera for a full second.

It's the first big Super Bowl broadcast snafu since the highly controversial 2004 incident involving Janet Jackson and her infamous "wardrobe malfunction", which saw her breast and nipple exposed during the halftime show with Justin Timberlake. That incident resulted in a $550,000 fine levied by the FCC against CBS for airing the uncensored moment.

One can't help but wonder what the FCC's, and America's, reaction will be to M.I.A.'s rude gesture.

Chef Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" is Casting in Cleveland

Chef Gordon Ramsay is currently seeking out Cleveland restaurants to feature on upcoming episodes of the FOX reality show "Kitchen Nightmares." Nominations are being accepted by both diners and restaurant owners.

"Kitchen Nightmare" producers are looking for restaurants that have been open for at least one year, offer dinner service, are independently owned, and have at least 35 seats. If your restaurant (or the restaurant you want to nominate) meets this criteria, feel free to submit a nomination.

As this is an open casting call, nomination does not mean acceptance. You can email KitchenNightmares@theconlincompany.com or call 310-313-9100 to nominate a restaurant, or to get more information. You'll need to include your name and contact information, as well as the name of the restaurant, its speciality, how many seats it has, and why it needs Chef Ramsay's help.

FCC Considering Ending NFL Blackout Rule

This week, the Federal Communications Commission filed a formal request for public comment on the idea to end the policy of prohibiting television broadcasts of professional football games that do not sell out prior to the start of the game.

FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell said that the rule may be obsolete due to the wide range of communication technology currently available. The rule was adopted in 1975. McDowell said:

"We now live in a world with not only local broadcast stations, but also cable, satellite, the Internet and wireless, and where television and merchandizing revenues exceed ticket sales. It is appropriate for us to re-examine the rule in light of marketplace changes."

The National Football League would be most effected by the move and has decided to take an early stance against the FCC proposal. The NFL issued a statement saying that the blackout rule supports ticket sales, which add to the overall excitement and appeal of the games:

"The policy is very important in supporting NFL stadiums and the ability of NFL clubs to sell tickets; keeping our games attractive as television programming with large crowds; and ensuring that we can continue to keep our games on free TV."

"Desperate Housewives" Creator Squashes Hopes of a Movie Spin-Off

While "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry says that the series finale will leave a few loose ends hanging, he warns against fans waiting for a reunion movie. Cherry said that eight seasons had given the hit ABC series time to "plumb the depths" of the characters, who are played by Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and others in the ensemble cast. The show's final episode will air this spring.

Cherry says that he is currently very happy with where the series stands. Comparing Housewives to HBO's "Sex and the City", which did fewer episodes and had two movies, the second of which was largely a bomb, Cherry said "I'm just never sending these gals to Dubai." (Referring to the Middle East set of Sex and the City 2".)

Cherry gave little away in terms of how the series will end, but noted that some "old, familiar characters" will return, but maintains that the rest is a secret and "I'm being hyperprotective of it."

However it ends, the ending is one that Cherry has had in mind since the show first went on air. The show's writers are embellishing his version, but he says that "the general premise has always been the same."

Cherry also says that he's going to pull a Hitchcock, making reference to Hitchcock's tradition of showing up in its film. He says:

Linda Hogan and Her 23-Year-Old Fiance to Star in VH1 Reality Show

If you've been out of the loop for awhile, you might not be aware that Hulk Hogan and his former wife Linda split up and that she started dating a man almost the same age as her son. It's clearly been doomed for disaster from the start. Now Linda, 52, and her fiance Charlie Hill, 23, will be hashing out their issues with therapist Dr. Jenn Berman in the new VH1 reality series "Couples Therapy" to debut in mid-March.

A family friend told the National Enquirer:

“Linda and Charlie’s relationship is littered with dysfunction and they’ve split up and gotten back together numerous times. Not long ago, Linda got so fed up with Charlie that she actually paid him to get out of her life. But she had a change of heart as soon as she learned Charlie hooked up with someone else.”

Soon after Linda kicked Charlie out of her Los Angeles home, the serial freeloader hooked up with another older woman at an LA club that her son Nick, 21, also happened to be at that night. Nick "blabbed about everything" said a friend, who added:

“As soon as Linda heard that her shoes had been filled so quickly – and with another older woman – she went ballistic!”

After getting over her anger, she became jealous and pushed him into getting back together.

MTV to Revive Punk'd in 2012

As a soon to be divorced man, Ashton Kutcher finds himself with a lot more time on his hands. So it should come as no surprise that his old MTV show Punk'd is gearing up for a revival. MTV officially announced the return of the prank show, which was once hosted by Kutcher himself. It will be airing new episodes in 2012.

Kutcher will return to Punk'd as an executive producer. however there's been no word on who'll be doing the actual punking. It had been rumored that Justin Bieber would take over the prankster duties, but so far no official word has been given on the matter.

In August, Bieber reportedly pranked Taylor Swift. That will aired on the show's first comeback episode.

Punk'd first began airing in 2003, and has been on hiatus since May 2007. The show's new host will officially be announced during MTV's New Year's Eve party live telecast next week.

Russell Brand Getting His Own Talk Show on FX

Russell Brand is getting his own late night talk show on FX. Katy Perry's husband just signed a deal for a six episode daily half-hour late night series, but if it does well it's likely to be extended.

Brand is incredibly excited. He told the Hollywood Reporter:

"I am so excited I'm on the point of climax, in fact I will put the "O" into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel's real name. That's the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I'll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bull O'Reilly."

FX executive Nick Grad says of the new show:

"We’re very excited to add Russell Brand’s bracingly funny, original, and honest voice to the FX comedy lineup. We look forward to supporting Russell and his partner Troy Miller’s ambition to strip down the hosted comedy format to its most fundamental elements and to create something daring and unfiltered for the FX audience.”

Brand's show will debut in the spring, and will feature the British actor's take on current events, politics, and pop culture. Each show will be taped in front of a live studio audience, and Brand will interact with those in attendance.

Youngest Kardashian Sisters Kylie and Kendall To Get Their Own Reality Show

It was inevitable that eventually, even the youngest of the Kardashian clan would get their own reality shows. The younger half-sisters of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe are now in talks to get their own spin-off shows on the E! Network.

14-year-old Kylie and 16-year-old Kendall Jenner have each made "cameos" on the various Kardashian reality shows, but it looks like soon they'll have their own show.

Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCU Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios, said that she was hoping for "two, three, even four new Kardashian spin-offs.” Really? Does the world need that much Kardashian?! At least one of the other Kardashian spin-offs is likely to be about Robert Kardashian, the sisters' brother. His star has risen since appearing on Dancing with the Stars, and suddenly he's the "Kardashian to watch."

Discussing Kylie and Kendall's show, Hammer says:

“I think it will have its own life expectancy and we'll just go along with it and help hone what's right for E! and what's not right for E! as we develop a whole other world."
