Ferrari Four Concept Unveiled Featuring 4 Seats and 4-Wheel Drive
By Julie Kent. Published on 01/21/2011 - 8:57am
Ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show to be held during the first week of March, Ferrari has officially unveiled the new Four concept car. It's Ferrari's first four-wheel-drive model. The new car with the large, spacious rear will replace Ferrari's 612 Scaglietti flagship. The Ferrari has become a family car with this latest addition.
The FF features the automakers first ever four-wheel drive system, which they claim weighs 50 percent less than a conventional four-wheel drive system, maintaining a rear-biased weight distribution (53 percent over the rear axle). The 4RM technology is completely integrated with the FF's electronic dynamic control systems, and delivers performance on all terrains and in all conditions with a continuous predictive torque distribution to all four wheels.
Powering the FF is a 6.3-liter V12 direct injection engine with 651bhp (at 8000 rpm) and 504 lb-ft of torque. That means the 3,946 lb. FF can go from 0 to 62 MPH in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 208 MPH.
The car also features the most recent development in carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo, and is equipped with the latest magnetorheological damping system (SCM3).
Check out this video that Ferrari has put together featuring the new FF. It was compiled from footage of various development drives:
