Secret DNA Test Proves John Edwards Fathered Child With Mistress Rielle Hunter

According to the National Enquirer, former North Carolina senator and two-time Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has secretly undergone a DNA test, and it proves that he is the father of Rielle Hunter's love child. Multiple sources have confirmed the news with the Enquirer, and it is said that lawyers are now privately working on arranging child support payments with his former mistress.

When the Enquirer broke the story about Edwards' affair in 2007, he denied it. It was not until mid-2008 that Edwards finally admitted the affair (after having been caught red-handed), in an interview aired on ABC's NIghtline. Despite acknowledgng the affair, Edwards has maintained that he is not the father of Hunter's child. Pictures of him meeting up with Hunter and holding the child have long suggested otherwise.

The National Enquirer has also revealed that they have learned that Hunter testified against Edwards in his secret federal grand jury investigation that is looking into whether he broke campaign finance laws by secretly paying her to keep quiet. Her testimony could end up sending him to jail.

Ohio Speeds Up Execution Rate; Critics Say Mistakes Will Be Made

Ohio currently has a backlog of executions due to a temporary stay by a US Supreme Court case from Kentucky that challenged lethal injections. When the court upheld the process in April 2008, Kentucky and Ohio, amongst other states, resumed executions. With such a backlog now, the state has ramped up its rate of executions and will continue to do so until they are caught up.

Since June, the state has executed three people, and has at least one lethal injection scheduled for each month through the end of the year. Many of the 168 people currently on Ohio's death row were sentenced in the 1980's and early 1990's before life without parole was an option for sentencing.

Ohio public defender Tim Young said:

"This should never become ordinary, it should never become run-of-the-mill, it should never be a normal happening like the turning of a calendar page."

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, however, said that his office is prepared despite the burden that the accelerated rate of executions has placed on the judicial system.

Olivia Newton-John's Missing Boyfriend May Have Been Found

Olivia Newton-John's former boyfriend, Patrick McDermott, went missing several years ago. According to the Woman's Day, he's not dead and recently contacted private investigators via fax, letting the investigators know that he's fine but wants to be left alone.

The private detective claims that they were contacted by "representatives" on behalf of McDermott. They asked that the investigation into his disappearance end, as he does not wish to be found.

The magazine also shed some new light on the couple's former relationship, publishing new evidence from a private investigator who has seen a photographer of McDermott with his hair dyed black.

In addition, it is believed that McDermott visited Olivia as little as 24 hours before his disappearance, and not three weeks as had previously been reported. He supposedly arrived around 10:30am the day before he disappeared with flowers in hand. He then ended their nine-year relationship, which according to her assistant left her "huddled on the couch, crying".

Later the same day, Woman's Day says that Patrick returned to Olivia's home to give her back his keys. Her assistant asked him what was wrong, and he is said to have replied, "It's too tumultuous around her. I can't do this anymore."

NHL Player Patrick Kane Arrested for Attacking Cab Driver

Chicago Blackhawks star player Patrick Kane was charged with attacking a cab driver in his hometown of Buffalo on Sunday. According to police, the beating was triggered when the driver indicated that he did not have 20 cents in change to give the player and his cousin who was in the cab with him.

Police say that Kane, 20, and his cousin James Kane, 21, caught a cab from the city's downtown nightclub district around 4am. The driver says he was punched and hit by both men because he did not have 20 cents in change to give them. The cab driver suffered from cuts to his face, and his glasses were broken.

Both Patrick and James were charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor counts of theft or services and criminal mischief. On Sunday, Patrick Kane pleaded not guilty in City Court. It was not clear whether James Kane would appear in court.

A spokesman for the Blackhawks said that the team was aware of the situation, and stated:

"He is a big part of our organization and a team leader and we stand behind him. As we are still collecting all the facts, it would be premature to comment further at this time."

Michael Douglas' Son Was a Big Time Meth Dealer

Michael Douglas' son, Cameron, was recently busted at a Manhattan hotel and arrested on the charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. The drug in question was the synthetic stimulant methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth. According to the feds, Cameron is a big-time meth dealer who has sold heaps of the drug in New York since 2006.

Cameron, 30, has raked in tens of thousands of dollars through his illegal operation, selling whole pounds of meth to one informant.
He was busted after allegedly mailing 215 grams of meth to a post office box in a package addressed to "Paul Smith." That was the fictitious name used by an informant, one of three that the feds nabbed and turned against him.

According to the feds, Douglas used code words like "bath salts" and "pastries" to discuss his meth shipments in secretly recorded calls and texts. They also say that one informant introduced him to another as a source of "large quantities of crystal meth."

This is not Cameron's first run-in with the law in regards to drug offenses. He was arrested twice before - in New York in 1999 and California in 2007.

Michael Douglas' Son Busted in NYC for Meth

According to TMZ, Michael Douglas' son, Cameron Douglas, was arrested Monday in New York City for possession of methamphetamines with the intent to distribute. Cameron, also an actor, has been busted for drugs in the past.

In 2007, Cameron was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance after cops found a syringe with liquid cocaine in a car he was in.

Cameron, 30, was taken into custody by federal authorities earlier today and remains in custody. The mug shot shown is from his 2007 arrest; we'll update with the latest one when it becomes available.

Former NY Giant Plaxico Burress Indicted on Gun Charges; Faces up to 15 Years

Former New York Giants' wide receiver Plaxico Burress was indicted on gun charges Monday, and now faces up to 15 years in jail. At minimum, he could expect to serve 3 1/2 years.

A Manhattan jury indicted Burress on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, as well as one count of reckless endangerment. He remains free on $100,000 bail for the time being.

Jurors did not believe Burress' claim that he didn't mean to commit a felony when he fumbled his illegal firearm - a .40 caliber Glock - inside a crowded nightclub and shot himself in the thigh in November 2008. Burress' public apology also did nothing to move the jury.

Burress' teammate Antonio Pierce was with him the night of the shooting, but escaped and was not indicted. Prosecutors had been saying that he played a role in hiding the weapon. He told the jury that he helped Burress while he was bleeding and later returned the gun to Burress' home in Totowa, NJ.

Unlike Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns, who hit and killed a man while driving drunk in Miami earlier this year and got off with just 30 days in jail and years of probation, Burress is likely to get the book thrown at him. Both NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg and District Attorney Robert Morgenthau have been calling for him to serve serious jail time if convicted.

Two Ohio Police Chiefs Arrested in Plot to Break-in SJP's Surrogate's Home

Two Ohio police chiefs were arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly cooking up a plan to break into the home of Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate last month. Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack were booked into the Belmont County jail at 9pm last night.

It is not yet clear what charges the two police chiefs face. A third man - who happens to be the son of Bridgeport's mayor - was also arrested in connection wih the case.

Investigators believe that the three men concocted a plan to steal valuable information from the surrogate's home in Martins Ferry, including voicemails left by Sarah Jessica Parker, which were to be sold to a tabloid.

All three posted bond shortly after being arrested.

The surrogate mother gave birth to twin girls on June 23.

Miley Cyrus Stalker on the Loose; Disney Warns LAPD

Life in the spotlight isn't always glamorous, in fact, sometimes it is down right scary. A disturbing fan was arrested for stalking Disney superstar Miley Cyrus, but was then let go due to jail overcrowding. This is despite the fact that he told Georgia cops that Miley sends him "secret messages" through her Hannah Montana television show.

Mark McLeod's whereabouts are now unknown, and Disney executives fear for the safety of their 16-year-old starlet. They are so concerned that McLeod may harm her, that they have alerted the Los Angeles police of his arrest and release in Georgia.

McLeod has been in the press before, and his obsession with Miley is well documented. In March he told the NY Daily News that he was her "No. 1 fan" while waiting to see her at a Midtown book signing, and said that he first saw her in concert last year and since then "I've kinda been watching everything she does."

But things took a turn for the worst last month, when on June 22 he was arrested in Tybee Island, Ga. near where Miley was filming her upcoming movie, "The Last Song." McLeod cursed at cops and allegedly tried to head-butt one officer while being handcuffed.

He screamed:

Official Says Doctor Gave Michael Jackson Fatal Shot

According to an explosive report released on Monday, Dr. Conrad Murray may be responsible for Michael Jackson's death. A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation into Jackson's death told the AP that Murray gave him a dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol sometime after midnight on the day he died.

The official added that Jackson received propofol regularly to sleep, which is not the drug's intended purpose. A doctor would administer the drug when he wanted to sleep, and then stop the intravenous drip when he wanted to wake up.

In addition, the official also gave details about the scene inside Jackson's rented Bel Air mansion, where his body was found on June 25. He described the room as outfitted with three oxygen tanks and an IV drip. A porcelain doll wearing a dress was also found on top of the covers of the bed. Jackson's room was a mess, as was another room which had about 20 handwritten notes stuck on the walls. One of the notes read "Children are sweet and innocent." The temperature in the house was also said to be very high as Jackson always complained of feeling cold.
