Rihanna's Testimony Won't Be Televised

What a bummer. A judge has ruled that Rihanna's testimony in the Chris Brown hearing will not be televised. Rihanna is expected to be called as a witness Monday afternoon by prosecutors.
The purpose of the June 22 hearing is to determine if there is sufficient evidence to try Chris Brown on assault charges.
While I'm sure the entire world is curious to see what Rihanna has to say about the alleged assault that occurred before the Grammy Awards back in February, her wish for privacy is understandable. We'll still get to hear all of the juicy details after the fact, we just won't get to see her say them.
24 Illegally Downloaded Songs Costs Woman $1.9 Million
If you thought that the Recording Industry Association of American had cooled down on their rampage against consumers illegally downloading copyrighted music, you'd be wrong - very, very wrong. In fact it seems as though their treatment of offenders has only gotten worse. On Thursday a federal jury found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the internet, and fined her $80,000 each for 24 songs. That's a grand total of $1.9 million.
Jammie Thomas-Rasset's case was the first copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, said her attorney Joe Sibley, who added that his client was shocked at the fine. She noted that the price for the songs was normally just 99 cents, and plans to appeal the decision.
A spokesperson for the RIAA said that they were "pleased that the jury agreed with the evidence and found the defendant liable." She added, "We appreciate the jury's service and that they take this as seriously as we do."
Amongst the songs Thomas-Rasset downloaded were those by artists including Sheryl Crow, Gloria Estefan, No Doubt, and Linkin Park.
Stallworth Sentenced to 30 Days Jail, 10 Years Probation
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI manslaughter on Tuesday, and will spend 30 days in jail. In addition to the jail time, he will also serve 10 years probation and perform 1,000 hours of community service.
Stallworth, 28, hit and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes on March 14 in Miami on the busy MacArthur Causeway. Stallworth's blood alcohol level after the crash was .126, well above Florida's .08 limit. Police reports say that Reyes was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by Stallworth.
It was reported earlier today that Stallworth also reached a financial settlement with the Reyes family. The amount involved in that settlement is not known and is said to be confidential.
Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns prior to last season. He was, however, injured much of the year.
Donte Stallworth Reaches Financial Agreement with Victim's Family
Donte Stallworth will avoid at least one court case. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver and the family of the man he is charged with hitting and killing with his vehicle have reached a financial agreement, avoiding a lawsuit.
An individual close to the negotiations revealed to the AP that the settlement amount was confidential.
Stallworth, although avoiding a civil suit, still has to face criminal charges. Attorneys have indicated that he will plead guilty Tuesday in Miami court to DUI manslaughter.
Stallworth, 28, is accused of striking Mario Reyes with his car while returning from a night on the town in Miami back in March. He was found to have a blood alcohol level of .126 following the crash, surpassing Florida's limit of .08.

Three Charged in Cuyahoga County Public Corruption Scandal
Nearly a year after the first FBI raids and federal investigations came to light in the public, three Cuyahoga County officials have today been charged with conspiracy, public corruption, bribery, tax counts, and mail fraud. J. Kevin Kelley, a former member of the Parma school board, as well as two others who worked with him in the county engineer's office - Kevin Payne and Daniel Gallagher - stand accused of steering jobs and millions of dollars in public contracts to pay for pricey meals, Las Vegas gambling trips, and other "personal services".
The charges filed today mark the first major charges to be filed in the on-going county public corruption scandal.
All three men are due to appear in U.S. District Court in the next few weeks. A fourth man, Brian Schuman, is also due to appear in court. Schuman helped run a halfway house on East 55th Street in Cleveland, Alternatives Agency Inc., where Kelley also worked as a consultant. Kelley is accused of bribing public officials for a $250,000 contract approved by county commissioners for the halfway house.

Rihanna to Testify in Chris Brown Case
Rihanna has officially been subpoenaed by Los Angeles prosectuors to appear in court to testify in the assault case against Chris Brown. Her lawyer, Donald Etra, confirmed that she was served in person Tuesday with the subpoena for the June 22 hearing in LA Superior Court.
Brown, 21, has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts stemming from his alleged assault on Rihanna on February 8.
Etra said:
"Rihanna was served at my office by L.A. DA investigators. "If the preliminary hearing indeed goes forward, she is now legally required to be there, she will be there, and will answer all questions truthfully."
The purpose of the preliminary hearing on June 22 is to determine if there is enough evidence to bind Brown over to trial. Rihanna, 21, will be subjected to cross examination by Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos.
It should be noted that the case could end at any time without going to trial if a plea deal is arranged.
