Rapper M.I.A. Gives American Audiences the Finger During Super Bowl Halftime Show

During the Super Bowl halftime show today in Indianapolis, which featured Madonna and other secondary acts, rapper M.I.A. flipped American audiences "the bird".

M.I.A. joined Madonna and Nicki Minaj on stage during the song "Give Me All Your Luvin", and clad in Cleopatra gear and black stiletto boots, she gave the middle-finger directly to a camera for a full second.

It's the first big Super Bowl broadcast snafu since the highly controversial 2004 incident involving Janet Jackson and her infamous "wardrobe malfunction", which saw her breast and nipple exposed during the halftime show with Justin Timberlake. That incident resulted in a $550,000 fine levied by the FCC against CBS for airing the uncensored moment.

One can't help but wonder what the FCC's, and America's, reaction will be to M.I.A.'s rude gesture.

OMG! Paula Deen Ate a Cheeseburger

Paula Deen, who is known for her ridiculously rich and calorie laden recipes, recently revealed that she suffers from Type 2 diabetes. Naturally, people started picking on her once she shared the news, blaming her cooking for bringing the disease upon herself. Now, gossip rags have stooped to a new low: photographing and reporting on what she eats. Yesterday, TMZ thought it fit to run a story that she ate a cheeseburger, and OMG, french fries.

Seriously?

Let the woman eat in peace. If she wants to get fat and die with a belly full of fatty goodness, that's her prerogative. I know some diabetics myself, and while they have to watch what they eat, they are allowed to indulge in some tasty foods from time to time, and in moderation.

It must be an awfully slow news week in gossip land.

Lindsay Lohan Sued for Hitting a Nanny Pushing a Baby Stroller with Her Rented Maserati

Lindsay Lohan just can't catch a break. Just when she thinks her legal troubles are behind her, something else pops up. This time, the 25-year-old actress is facing a lawsuit filed against her on Wednesday by a woman who claims Lohan hit her while speeding through a red light in a rented Maserati over one year ago.

According to court documents, nanny Nubia Del Carmen Plaza claims that Lohan hit her at the intersection of Alta Loma Road and Holloway Drive in West Hollywood on September 1, 2010, while she was crossing the street. Plaza says that she was pushing a stroller at the time. Witnesses to the incident say that three of the strollers four wheels became airborne at one point, but that the child inside was fortunately unharmed.

Plaza says that she has since suffered "serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish" as well as a significant loss of wages due to her inability to work. She is seeking damages for medical expenses and the time that she has been forced to take off work.

Demi Moore Pulls Out of Linda Lovelace Biopic

After having been rushed to the hospital on Monday for so-called "exhaustion", which is Hollywood code for drug or alcohol problems, actress Demi Moore is dropping out of the Linda Lovelace biopic, "Lovelace."

Amanda Seyfriend nabbed the film's title role, after Lindsay Lohan left the project more than a year ago amid her own personal troubles. Moore was supposed to play famed women's rights activist Gloria Steinem in the film, which is being co-directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.

Production began shooting in December, but it's unclear if Moore had filmed any scenes.

The film also stars James Franco, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Brody, Sharon Stone, Eric Roberts, Hank Azaria, Juno Temple, and whoever will end up being Demi's replacement.

Heidi Klum & Seal are Headed for Divorce

Rumors are swirling that supermodel Heidi Klum and her singer husband Seal are on the verge of divorce. Citing sources close to the couple, TMZ says that Heidi will be filing divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court as early as next week and will cite "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the split.

Seal and Heidi married on May 10, 2005, and are famous for throwing a lavish wedding ceremony each year on their anniversary. They have three biological kids together, and Seal adopted Heidi's oldest girl from a previous relationship.

As for what's on the line in the divorce, there's quite a bit of money at stake. Forbes says that in just the last year alone, Klum brought in $20 million. It's not clear how much Seal made.

Last Sunday, Heidi attended the Golden Globes without Seal, and the last photo that she tweeted with him was back on December 26.

Actor Rob Lowe Causes Twitter Storm After Claiming Peyton Manning is Retiring

Peyton Manning, 35, missed the entire 2011 season after undergoing neck surgery in September. Speculation about his future as an NFL quarterback has been rife, and now actor Rob Lowe has sparked further speculation after claiming that Manning was retiring from the NFL.

Lowe claimed on his Twitter account that according to his "people", the Indianapolis Colts star would announce his retirement. Lowe, who is apparently friends with Colts owner Jim Irsay, tweeted:

"Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to NFL. Wow."

"My people are saying Manning will retire today. What do you hear?
'#Coltsfans, let's hope my info is wrong. Don't like being wrong, but this time... I'm hoping #NFL #Manning."

Manning's older brother, Cooper, said he was unaware of a retirement and said that he had spoken with Peyton for an hour on Tuesday night, and that he never mentioned retirement. He said:

"That would surprise me. He's committed to working out and getting healthy - meaning getting ready to play."

Cooper Manning described Lowe's tweets as "very out of left field" and said: "I have no idea where that's coming from."

Oprah Predicts Obama Will Be Re-Elected to the White House

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who backed Barack Obama and his 2008 bid for the presidency, described President Obama as a "masterful leader", and said that she is confident that he will be re-elected.

Winfrey, however, says that this time she doesn't feel an urgency to formally endorse Obama because he is so well-known:

"I don't need to endorse him because I am a 100 percent supporter of him and I've already endorsed him."

She added:

"If he or his office called me tomorrow and said that they needed me I would do whatever I thought would be of service. I did what I did in 2008 because I really thought that would be of value and of service. I don't think that's needed in 2012. There's not a person in the world who doesn't know who Barack Obama is."

Oprah says that she is confident Obama will be elected, and noted:

"I think he is a masterful leader."

Winfrey made the remarks during an interview in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she was in town to celebrate the graduation of the first students attending a school for girls that she established five years ago. 72-students are graduating on Saturday from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

"Desperate Housewives" Creator Squashes Hopes of a Movie Spin-Off

While "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry says that the series finale will leave a few loose ends hanging, he warns against fans waiting for a reunion movie. Cherry said that eight seasons had given the hit ABC series time to "plumb the depths" of the characters, who are played by Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and others in the ensemble cast. The show's final episode will air this spring.

Cherry says that he is currently very happy with where the series stands. Comparing Housewives to HBO's "Sex and the City", which did fewer episodes and had two movies, the second of which was largely a bomb, Cherry said "I'm just never sending these gals to Dubai." (Referring to the Middle East set of Sex and the City 2".)

Cherry gave little away in terms of how the series will end, but noted that some "old, familiar characters" will return, but maintains that the rest is a secret and "I'm being hyperprotective of it."

However it ends, the ending is one that Cherry has had in mind since the show first went on air. The show's writers are embellishing his version, but he says that "the general premise has always been the same."

Cherry also says that he's going to pull a Hitchcock, making reference to Hitchcock's tradition of showing up in its film. He says:

Beyonce Gave Birth to Baby Girl Last Night

According to multiple reports, Beyonce gave birth to a baby girl last night. The baby was delivered by c-section. Both mom and daughter were said to be doing fine.

There is some slight confusion over what Beyonce and Jay-Z named the baby. E! Online reports that Jay-Z was telling friends the name is Blue Ivy Carter, while other media outlets have reported the name as Ivy Blue Carter.

Representatives for the couple have yet to confirm the baby's birth and name.

A source said that Beyonce checked into the Lenox Hill Hospital under heavy security. The Upper East Side medical center had been preparing for her arrival by readying a luxurious suite for her. Sources say the couple paid $1.3 million to rent out the suite. Private security guards were said to be swarming the fourth floor of the hospital.
