DVD Review: The Haunting of Molly Hartley
I will admit, when I first picked up the DVD for "The Haunting of Molly Hartley", I thought to myself "oh great, another stupid horror film." I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot, so I was pleasantly surprised when I popped it in and began watching.
Written by John Travis and Rebecca Sonnenshine and directed by Mickey Liddell, "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" tells the story of Molly Hartley (Haley Bennett), a 17-year-old girl who was stabbed by her mentally ill mother and survives. Also starring in the film are Chace Crawford (made famous by the CW's "Gossip Girls") and Jake Weber.
Though her wounds heal, Molly is constantly haunted psychologically by the incident. Hoping to help her move on, her father enrolls her in a new school.
As her 18th birthday fast approaches, Molly has to deal with the stresses of being the new kid and the continuing nightmares of her mother's attack that plague her daily life. As Molly begins to experience some of the same symptoms of her mother's psychosis, she learns her parents' most deepest, darkest secret, one that threatens her existence.
Samuel L. Jackson Signs Massive 9 Movie Deal With Marvel
Actor Samuel L. Jackson now has something that most Americans don't right now - job security - after having signed to an impressive 9 picture deal with Marvel. He's reportedly signed on to play superspy Nick Fury.
The soon-to-be comic book icon first created a buzz when he made a cameo appearance at the end of Iron Man in 2008, and then confirmed his role in the movie's forthcoming sequel. His role was in jeopardy, however, after he claimed negotiations between his reps and Marvel had broken down to the current economic crisis.
Despite this, he managed to strike a deal with Marvel. He's now confirmed a recurring star in the studio's upcoming big screen comic book adaptations. It includes appearances in Iron Man 2, Captain America, The Avengers and its subsequent sequels, and possibly as the lead in a S.H.I.E.L.D movie - the fictional espionage agency the Nick Fury character heads.
"Neverending Story" Remake Looks Likely
When Hollywood runs out of ideas for new films, what do they do? Why they remake old ones, and often times, ruin some of our beloved favorites. Next up for a hack job is the childhood favorite, "The Neverending Story."
The Kennedy/Marshall Co. and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way are in discussions with Warner Brothers about reviving the now 25-year-old franchise with a new modern twist. WB recently acquired rights to the property.
The film is based off of a German-language novel by Michael Ende. The original film focused on a boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux who discovers a parallel world in a book. As he delves deeper into the book, he finds his own life increasingly intertwined with the novel's plot. In the book, a hero in the land of Fantasia must save the universe on behalf of an empress.
Dieter Geissler, producer of the original film, will also produce this modern remake. Sarah Schechter and Jesse Ehrman will oversee for Warners. The new incarnation of the film will take a look at more of the nuanced details of the book that had been glossed over in the original.
Sony Scrambling to Erase Chris Brown from Upcoming "Bone Deep" Movie Ads

Prior to his arrest for allegedly assaulting girlfriend Rihanna, Chris Brown had a carefully crafted "good boy" image. That of course all went to hell, and he's since seen advertising deals with Wrigley's and Got Milk suspended. They, however, weren't the only two companies hoping to capitalize on the teen star's success. Sony, hoping to milk a few extra tickets at the box office, signed on Brown to play in an upcoming mid-budget drama film. But now that he's got this scandal under his belt, Sony's hoping to distance themselves and remove him from all advertising for the film.
The film in question is "Bone Deep", which saw Brown in a supporting role alongside T.I. The movie's more experienced actors - Hayden Christensen and Paul Walker - were to carry the film. Brown and T.I. were mainly around for the box office boost.
The film's marketers now have a bit of a problem on their hands. According to the hip-hop site Woooha, distributor Sony Screen Gems is now scrambling to "erase" him from all movie poster, trailer and TV ads. He'll remain in the final cut of the film, but you'd never know that from the promo materials.

Oscar Winners Roundup: Slumdog, Penn, Cruz & Winslet Win Big

Oscar night 2009 was dominated by the evenings' biggest winners - Slumdog Millionaires, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, and Sean Penn's upset win. Arnold Schwarzenegger Appearing in Upcoming Sly Stallone Flick "The Expendables"

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming film "The Expendables".The upcoming film is written and directed by the Governator's friend Sylvester Stallone and is due for release sometime in 2010. The films plot revolves around mercenaries who are attempting to overthrow a South American government.
"Since I've become governor I've done three cameos when friends ask me and Sly asked me if I would do a cameo. I said of course I would help you do a cameo, there's no two ways about that."
Schwarzenegger is facing term limits in California and by taking a role in a big budget film, which also stars A-Lister Mickey Rourke, it looks like he will return to acting when he leaves office in 2011. Will anyone want to cast a 63 year old for an action movie-if it will sell tickets they will do it in a heartbeat.

Madonna to Star in "Twilight" Sequel
Sequels rarely live up to the glory of the original films, but you know a movie is going to be bad when Madonna is cast in it. According to E! News' Ryan Seacrest, Madonna's business partner, Guy Oseary, is executive producing the Twilight sequel - New Moon - and wants to get the aging pop star involved somehow. Seacrest says that she'll likely have a role in the movie, as well as put together the soundtrack.
With Madonna being so deeply involved in the film, we're predicting a sweep at next year's Razzie awards. Unless of course Paris Hilton signs on for another B-list movie and gives Madge a run for her money.
