Browns Cut WR Donte’ Stallworth

The Cleveland Browns today terminated the contract of wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth. Stallworth was suspended by the NFL for the 2009 season after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter charges in Florida and had been reinstated by the league to the league after suspension following the Super Bowl.
Stallworth played one season with the Browns in 2008 after spending time with the Patriots (2007), Eagles (2006) and Saints (2002-2005). In his 11 games with the Browns, Stallworth made 7 starts with 17 catches for 170 yards.
Browns Won't Raise Season Ticket Prices in 2010

The Cleveland Browns today announced that season ticket prices for the 2010 season will not increase.
Season ticket prices for the Browns, which continue to rank among the lowest in the NFL, have not increased in five of the last seven years. In fact, this year prices for select seats will be lower than they were in 2009.
For the first time ever, each Season Ticket Account Holder will have their own Personal Ticket Services Representative. They will also receive in-stadium discounts on items such as concessions and team merchandise, in addition to discounted season parking.
“Having faced the Browns several times in Cleveland as a head coach, I know what a home field advantage our stadium can provide,” said Browns President Mike Holmgren. “We're excited about continuing to build the type of team that our fans can be proud of. I know that they will be an integral part of any success that we have and that is why we are pleased to keep our ticket prices as affordable as possible for our fans.”
For the first time, season tickets are available in the Cleveland Browns Family Zone – a family-friendly, alcohol-free area in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Prices in the Family Zone are set at $32 per game on a season basis, making them one of the most affordable in the NFL.
Renewal information for current Season Ticket Holders will be mailed later this month. Season Ticket Holders also have the option of renewing their tickets through their Season Ticket Holder Locker Room on ClevelandBrowns.com. For the second straight year, the Browns are offering a series of flexible payment options and renewal prizes. Season Ticket Holders can log in to their Locker Room on ClevelandBrowns.com to take advantage of these payment options.
Browns Reportedly Trying to Deal Brady Quinn to Denver for Brandon Marshall

Denver Broncos superstar Brandon Marshall expects to get traded after March 5th when the free agency floodgates open in the NFL. The only question seems to be where and now reports are saying that the Browns are working towards a deal that would send Brady Quinn out west for the troubled wide receiver.
Per ESPN Insider:
We're still in the preliminary -- mostly speculative -- stages of the Brandon Marshall sweepstakes. Here's what we know: he's all but done for in Denver, as we continue to read things like this from Mike Klis of the Denver Post: "Today most likely is goodbye to All Things Brandon Marshall."
OK, but where does he wind up? Any team could use a player as talented on the field as Marshall, but not every team wants to deal with the possibility of his off-the-field issues. We've speculated that the Pats and Cowboys would be two teams on the cusp of Super Bowl runs who might take a shot, and on Sunday, Klis added the Cleveland Browns to the mix. Even more intriguing, Klis thinks that the trade could kill two birds with one stone: get rid of Marshall, and get a QB back, as he thinks the Browns could be interested in swapping Brady Quinn.
Troy Smith Wants to Play for the Browns
Troy Smith must have been knocked a few too many times in the head. During a recent interview with Mark "Munch" Bishop of ESPN Radio's Cleveland affiliate, Smith admitted to wanting to commit career suicide. Currently a member of the Baltimore Ravens, the old Cleveland Browns team that packed up and moved out of town in the late 1990's, Smith says that he'd love to play for the Browns.
He said:
"There is no doubt about it. It has always been a childhood dream of mine. It's funny how we always talk about Clevelnand. That's the first thing that comes to mind with anything I do whether I get a chance to come home and be a part of that organization or not. You know, I would love to get that chance if that opportunity comes up, but the political and right thing to say in this situation is that I would love to be anywhere that would give me a chance. But, without a doubt, there would be no second guessing in my mind if I could come back home and be apart of something that I love."
We assume that by saying he wants to be a part of something that he loves, he doesn't mean losing, which is what the Browns are known for these days.
LeBron James Newest McDonald's Pitchman

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has scored another endorsement deal. This time will help selling hamburgers and fries for McDonald's.
"McDonald's and I make a great team," said LeBron James. "We share many of the same core values, including a commitment to excellence and giving back to the community. I am also excited about the opportunity to work with Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps improve the lives of so many children and their families around the world."
Terms of the agreement were not announced but the press release says that includes James supporting several McDonald's programs and promotions, as well as McDonald's charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Cavaliers Courting Phoenix Suns Star Amare Stoudemire in Blockbuster Trade

The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to make a deal to land Phoenix Suns power forward Amare Stoudemire. The PD's beat reporter Brian Windhorst says that deal would include the Cavs sending Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to the Suns.
Stoudemire was the 9th pick of the 2002 draft and has had a very solid career with the Suns averaging 21 Points and just under 9 rebounds a game for the Suns in his career. The 27 year old can become a free agent at the end of the season and has recently stated that he wants to play for a team that can contend for a NBA title.
Cleveland Browns Player Mike Furrey Named as Finalist for 2009 NFL Man of the Year

Wide receiver/defensive back Mike Furrey has been selected as one of three finalists for the 2009 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, it was announced today by the NFL. Renamed in 1999 after legendary Chicago Bears Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, this honor is the only league award that recognizes a player’s off the field community service activities as well as his playing excellence. The honor marks the first time the Browns have had one of the three finalists since their return in 1999. Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher and Kansas City Chiefs guard Brian Waters join Furrey as the three finalists. The winner will be announced live on CBS before Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday, February 7. Furrey, Fletcher and Waters will be in South Florida during Super Bowl week and will participate in a press conference on Friday, February 5, along with Payton’s family.
Cleveland Browns Add Four to Personel Department

The Cleveland Browns today announced the additions of Jon Sandusky, Keith Gilbertson, John Spytek and A.J. Durso to the clubs personnel department. In addition, the team signed defensive back Chris Roberson as a free agent for the 2010 season.
Sandusky joins the Browns as Director of Player Personnel after spending the previous nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, with the last two as Director of Pro Personnel. He spent his first six seasons with the club as a pro scout after joining the Eagles as an intern in the personnel department in 2001. A native of State College, Pa., Sandusky was a safety for Penn State from 1996-99. He is the son of former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
Josh Cribbs Chips in Via Twitter to Help With Haiti

Cleveland Browns all-pro special teamer Josh Cribbs has pledged $1 per follower on Twitter will go to the Haiti relief fund. He wrote:
I'm donating $1 dollar to the Haiti relief for every follower, your addition to my followers adds to the relief.
So far, his account has grown by nearly 2,000 recent days and has nearly 19,000 followers. Hopefully the Browns give the man a contract pretty soon so he can make good on his promise.
Will Mike Holmgren Re-wire the Office?

That's what often happens after a change at the top in the NFL. The new guy installs his own bugs -- secret, illegal listening devices in offices and meeting rooms. That's how paranoid the NFL has become. The boss wants to know what the assistant coaches, scouts, etc., are saying when they think nobody is listening.
Recall when Eric Mangini took over exactly a year ago. What was the first project he undertook? He started a million-dollar remodeling job in the headquarters building in Berea. In the process, a lot of pictures were moved around on the walls, good places to find the old microphones and hide new ones. I swear, when I looked at the picture of Dante Lavelli on the wall, his eyes seemed to move.
