Cleveland Browns

Browns QB Jake Delhomme Meets the Cleveland Media

(On the players on offense and how he is going to mesh with them)- “I will be honest with you, I am still learning people’s names. March 17, I got here Sunday night, I am just learning different guy’s names. I know there are a lot of young guys. (Mohamed) Massaquoi, (Brian) Robiskie, I do not know Ben Watson. I’ve met some of the other players. It’s still early in the process. I can leave it at that. To say this is going to happen, I don’t know. We’re still very early in the process.”

Former Brown Joins the Cleveland Gladiators

The Cleveland Gladiators of the AF-1 Arena Football League have signed former Cleveland Browns receiver Steve Sanders to a deal that will allow him to earn a roster spot for the upcoming season.

Signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Browns in 2006, Sanders was an East High and Bowling Green standout. In his tenure with the BG Falcons, Sanders registered 156 receptions, 2,324 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns.

Breaking Down the Browns 2010 Offseason (3/15)

As we move through this tumultuous time of the offseason, it is often hard to keep up with the goings-on of a Browns organization that is sure to stay active throughout. As such, I will try to record a weekly breakdown detailing any acquisitions or rumors regarding this free agency/draft perio so you're not made a fool of at the water cooler. You can thank me later.

Cleveland Browns Trade Outside Linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to Oakland Raiders

Not only did the Cleveland Browns trade quarterback Brady Quinn to the Denver Broncos, they've also made another move on Sunday, trading outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to the Oakland Raiders.

In exchange for Wimbley, the browns will get "undisclosed draft compensation." Wimbley was the 13th overall pick in 2006, and led the Browns in sacks last year.

In Oakland, Wimbley is expected to start at defensive end, replacing Greg Ellis.

Cleveland Browns Trade Quarterback Brady Quinn to Denver Broncos

The Cleveland Browns traded quarterback Brady Quinn to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. In return, the Browns will get running back Peyton Hillis, a sixth round pick in 2011, and a condition pick in 2012.

In trading Quinn, a 2007 first-round pick, Cleveland has revamped the quarterback position in Cleveland. The team also cut former Pro Bowler Derek Anderson on Tuesday, signed free agent Jake Delehomme on Saturday, and got Seneca Wallace from Seattle on Monday.

Speaking of the Quinn trade today, Browns head coach Eric Mangini said:

"I appreciate everything Brady did for us last year and in his three seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He is professional in the way he goes about doing his job and worked extremely hard at every aspect of his game. I wish him the best of success in Denver."

Browns Sign Former Super Bowl QB Jake Delhomme

Brady Quinn's days as a Cleveland Brown appear numbered after the franchise agreed to terms with former Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme to a free agent deal. The 35 veteran visited the Browns on Thursday and left without a contract. Today, his agent said that they have agreed to a two year deal.

The addition of Delhomme most likely signals that the Browns will soon release or trade former first round draft pick Brady Quinn. The team currently has four quarterbacks on their roster, and by bringing in veterans Seneca Wallace and Delhomme it looks like the franchise is ready to go in a new direction at signal caller.

Browns Send Veteran TE Heiden Packing, Sign LB Trusnik to 2nd Round Tender

The Cleveland Browns have released veteran tight end Steve Heiden and Browns linebacker Jason Trusnik signed his second-round tender. Heiden had been a member of the Browns since 2002 and has played in the NFL since 1999 after starting his career in San Diego. Heiden was the second longest tenured member of the "new" Browns and saw his best season in the Orange and Brown come in2005 when he hauled in career-high 43 receptions for 401 yards with Cleveland in 2005.

Trusnik came over last season in the Braylon Edwards deal and quickly became a fan favorite for being a local product (Macedonia native) and his hard-nosed play. Trusnik will likely play in a reserve role as a linebacker and is one of the teams better special teams players.

Tight End Ben Watson Signs Deal With Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns made another offseason move today bringing in unrestricted free agent Ben Watson from the New England Patriots. Watson is a six year NFL veteran that the Browns feel will contribute in the passing and running game.

"We viewed Ben as one of the top all-around tight ends in the free agent market," said Browns General Manager Tom Heckert. "Because of his athleticism and intelligence, he has proven valuable as both a receiver and blocker during his career, and has performed well in both facets. He comes from a winning program in New England and possesses the traits that we like in a player. We feel as though he can help us in many different areas and we are excited about his addition to our team."

The 29 year old former first round draft pick had a workmanlike year last year catching 29 passes for 404 yards and 5 touchdowns. He played in all 16 games for the Patrots.

Billionaire Lerners Make Forbes Richest in World

You may have noticed in the Plain Dealer this morning that the City of Cleveland will refinance $65 million in bonds for Browns Stadium. You also likely noticed that the interest rate will be going up. Taxpayers get ready.

Because of the poor fiscal state of the city, Moody’s rating service lowered the rating it gives the city. That means that the city will be paying more interest on all its borrowings. It has borrowed heavily to build the Browns Stadium for its nine or ten games a year. But worry not; Randy Lerner will not have to pay a penny more. Cleveland and Cuyahoga County taxpayers, via the sin tax, will pay.

You may not have noticed that Forbes magazine ranked the people richest in the world. Listed down the line were three recognizable names – all Lerners, all worth $1 billion. That includes Randy, owner of the Browns.

Randy Lerner won’t be paying any of the interest on the $65 million in bonds. The taxpayers of Cleveland will pay that. A gift to the Lerner family. They surely need it in these tough times.

Jake Delhomme to Visit Cleveland Browns

Jake Delhomme, who led the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2003, is set to visit the Cleveland Browns on Thursday according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Browns have been busy on the quarterback front in recent days trading for Seneca Wallace and releasing former starter Derek Anderson earlier this week.

If the Browns bring in the veteran Delhomme, it would likely signal the end of the Brady Quinn era in Cleveland. Various outlets are reporting that the Browns are shopping the former first round pick out of Notre Dame and if Delhomme lands here the team would have four quarterbacks on their roster.
