Brady Quinn Responds After Putting House Up for Sale

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn spoke to reporters today confirming that his house is for sale. The former first round draft choice out of Notre Dame, who was benched after only ten quarters, denied it was because he wants to get traded saying:
“I appreciate the free advertising,” Quinn said. “That is awesome. My house is for sale, because I’m looking to downsize. It’s a big house and being a bachelor, I don’t need that much space.
“It is not for any of the reasons that have been written about.”
Quinn was then asked if had requested a trade from the team and he responed:
Punter Dave Zastudil of the Cleveland Browns Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

The Browns not only pulled off a win this past Sunday, but punter Dave Zastudil did such a great job that he's been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for games played on October 11 and 12. The league announced the award on Wednesday.
During the Browns 6-3 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Zastudil recorded nine punts for 386 yards. Seven of the nine punts were downed inside the 20, and three of those were placed inside the five yard line. His last punt of the game was fumbled on the Bill's 16-yard line and was recovered by Cleveland, which led to a game-winning field goal seven plays later with just 26 seconds left int he game.
With seven punts inside the 20, Zastudil is now tied with Josh Miller for the third-most in a single game since the statistic began being recorded in 1976. The last time such a feat was accomplished was in 199, when Bryan Barker of the Jacksonville Jaguars recorded eight punts inside the 20.
Mangini Talks Browns First Win of 2009 at Morning Press Conference

(Opening statement)- “Good afternoon everybody. How are we doing? I didn’t have the players come in today. The guys have been working really hard here and I thought after getting the first win, it would be a good opportunity to just give them a little extra time. They’re still coming in and lifting and doing those things. It was a good opportunity for them to get reloaded a little bit going into the week we have ahead of us.
Browns a Two Touchdown Underdog Against the Steelers Sunday

Scoring 6 points and beating a hapless Buffalo Bills team hardly impresses Las Vegas oddsmakers. The Cleveland Browns, who earned their first victory in 11 months yesterday, have been installed as a 13.5 point underdog when they visit their arch-rival Pittsburgh on Sunday. The over under for the game has been set at 38 for the 1:00 showdown.
The Steelers come into the contest with a 3-2 record and have yet to be beaten at home this year. Yesterday in Detroit, the defending Super Bowl champs earned their first road win but let the pitiful Lions hang around until the very end of the game but hung on for a 28-20 victory.
Browns Bills -- A Disgrace and Cleveland Area High School Football Top 25
A WASTE OF THREE HOURS. ANOTHER DAY RUINED.
WORST QUARTERBACKING IN NFL HISTORY.

There should be no rejoicing over that abomination. As a matter of principle, the Browns should protest the victory over the Buffalo Bills. Like a Christmas sweater, they should return the win to the league and declare it a loss. It should be a loss for both teams.
The Bills were the worst-coached team I have ever seen. Both teams had the worst quarterbacking.
Game balls only to both punters and Jamal Lewis.
Here's one of the most dedicated coaches I've ever known. Greg Urbas, St. Ed's freshman football coach (you know him also as head wrestling coach), drove to Cincinnati this past Friday to scout St. Xavier, the next opponent. He drove back after the game, stopping for a two-hour nap at an I-71 rest stop, getting back to school at 5 a.m. At 7 a.m. he left with the freshman team for Erie, Pa., where they played the Cathedral Prep freshmen at 10 a.m. Saturday night I saw him at the annual "Wings Auction" fundraiser in the school gym.
Browns Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll Talks Sunday's Game Against Bills

(On losing Braylon Edwards)- “I am confident with the other guys that we have. The thing I’ll say about Braylon is he is starting new with the New York Jets. We got a couple of guys for him, one a receiver that’s coming in, and we are excited about the guys that we have with Stuck (Chansi Stuckey), Mohamed (Massaquoi), Brian (Robiskie), Josh (Cribbs), Mike (Furrey) and the rest of the guys. We are looking forward to just keeping on improving.”
(On how the team responded to the trade)- “I think they are all professionals. They all understand. All of us have been on teams where either a guy gets hurt or gets traded. That’s life in the NFL. You move on and you keep on working hard. You try to gel as best you can gel. They are all pros about it.”
(On if the Bills will double team anyone)- “I don’t know that answer. We will be prepared either way with what they play and what they don’t play. Some teams might decide to do that, some other teams won’t decide to do that. You have to have an answer for whatever they decide to do.”
Rex Ryan Talks Buffalo Bills

(On who would fill D’Qwell Jackson’s spot if can’t play) “I think with D’Qwell, we’re hoping, obviously that D’Qwell can go. He’s doing everything he can to be out there. In typical guys playing for the Cleveland Browns fashion, he’s getting rehab nine times a day. He wants to play. This guy loves to play and we’re hopeful. I’m sure that will come down right to the game time, to find out if he can play. If he can’t, we’ve been working a lot of guys. It could be a couple rookies in there, Kaluka (Maiava), David (Veikune). Those guys have worked hard. If they get in there, they’re going to have to do a great job and rise up and help us get a win.”
(On what effect the Braylon Edwards trade could have on the team and the controversy that led up to it)- “I thought you were talking about that missed field goal. Did I say that out loud? Anyways, somebody look at it and research it. I never said anything. That was disappointing. About the trade, he’s an offensive guy, so I can’t really talk much about that. I just know we added a fine defensive player in Jason Trusnik. We’re looking to play him right away, give him some snaps early in defense and see how he does with his new teammates.”
Mangini's Final Press Conference of the Week as Browns Face Bills Sunday

(Opening statement)- “Good morning everybody. How are we doing? Today what we’re going to focus on is the red area, goal line, which we typically do on Friday’s. There are some things that I want to get cleaned up. On third down, I thought we made a lot of progress there last week. I want to make sure that we are able to maintain that. This is a good third down team. I know the numbers haven’t been there, but playing Josh Reed over the years and his impressive production on third down, 70 percent of his catches are on third down. Some of the other things they are able to do, where at any point they can to take a shot. You have to be able to balance all those things off. Marshawn Lynch will be a lot more involved in the offense this week than he was last week, giving them two good options as backs. These are two guys that, I know late last year in watching them, led the NFL in receptions for backs. Even the check downs, we have to be especially conscious of those things as well because they can hit you a lot of different ways. You give those backs the ball in space that can be a problem, as well as the receiving corps. I think like anything else, as their offense gets more reps together, as they continue to improve and fix the problems that they have, it’ll improve. We’ll spend some more time working on that. We’ll move into the red area and the goal line element and review the things that we have in overall.”
Mangini Talks Newest Cleveland Browns and Match-Up With Buffalo Bills

(Opening statement)- “Good morning everybody. How are we doing? What we’re going to do today is move into third down. I really thought that we did a good job last week making some progress in that area. That had been an area, both offensively and defensively, where we hadn’t been playing very well. It was improved. I’m looking for that same type of improvement this week. I was talking to the guys, I thought throughout the course of last week, the practices were crisp. I thought we did a nice job identifying what we had to stop, what we had to do and that translated. As we go through this and are able to teach off the different experiences, there’s a lot of good teaching that came from cause and effect last week. That’s something that we’ll continue to emphasize throughout the season, but it was more apparent last weekend then it had been.”
(On if Chansi Stuckey and Jason Trusnik practiced yesterday)- “No, with the flights and things and then the medical part of it, they had to go through all those tests. They were in the meetings later in the afternoon, so they caught really the offensive and defensive meetings. They met with the coaches last night, met with them this morning. They’ll be out at practice here today.”
(On if Stuckey and Trusnik can contribute right away since he knows them)- “Well there is a variation in the system with, just on special teams, Brad (Seely) does different things than Mike Westhoff does. I think knowing both these guys and the way that they approach their preparation, whatever they don’t have or don’t feel comfortable with, they’ll make sure that they have that stuff by the time we get to Sunday.”
(On Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie’s first practice without Braylon Edwards)- “I thought they looked very similar to how they’ve looked throughout this process. Both the young kids have worked at it each day. Mohamed’s just gotten a little bit more time than Brian has. I don’t think their approach shifted dramatically yesterday.”
(On if he has figured out where Stuckey fits in the offense)- “That’s going to be something that we’ll work at and figure out. With all those guys, with Mike (Furrey), with Chansi, with Brian, with Josh (Cribbs), where they all fit, what they can contribute, how the roles on special teams are going to play into it. A lot of the times when we game plan, there could be specific packages for each guy based on what we want to get done. That’s not just because of the move we made, it’s what we typically do.”
(On if Stuckey and Furrey are similar players)- “Chansi doesn’t play defense. We tried him there a little bit. He didn’t do bad. He played a little bit in the slot for a while, so he’s had some reps there. They both have good short area quickness. They both have good hands. They’re both smart guys. There are some real similarities in terms of those things. I think that group will get along really well together and we’ll figure out exactly where each piece fits and how we can best use them and move forward from there.”
