Braylon Edwards Charged With Misdemeanor Assault

Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been charged with misdemeanor assualt following a fight downtown in which he injured a friend of LeBron James. If convicted, Edwards faces up up to a $1,000 fine and 180 days in jail. That is probably the least of the worries of Edwards new team the New York Jets. The NFL may suspend the receiver because of their player conduct policy.

The arraignment for Edwards has been set for November 17th.

Fergie to Be Part Owner of Miami Dolphins

This week, NFL owners meeting in Boston approved Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie as a part owner. According to Dolphins CEO Mike Dee, the team, however, has yet to complete an agreement with her.

Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas already have a marketing partnership with the Dolphins. This month Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, wore a pink Dolphins jersey for a campaign for breast cancer awareness.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has already brought on six other celebrities. The team's first partnership was with singer Jimmy Buffett, followed by Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony, and Serena and Venus Williams.

Ross said that celebrity partnerships stir up excitement and reflect the vibrancy of South Florida, and that he envisions the Dolphins as a glamour team.

Last Link of Browns in Baltimore Gone as Matt Stover Loses Kicking Job

When you tune into the Cleveland Browns game against Baltimore you will see a notable absence on the Ravens roster. Matt Stover, the last holdover from the Browns on the teams roster last season, lost his job as placekicker this year for the team. The 41 year old kicked for Cleveland from 1991-1995 and continued with Baltimore from 1996-2008. Stover is the third most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL nailing 83.7% of his attempted kicks during his career that spanned nearly two decades. 24 year old Steve Hauschka is the new kicker for the Ravens and as hit 2 of his first three attempts for the team this season.

Stover not making the team will also mean that one of the most strange facts of the Browns/Ravens rivalry will no longer be in play. The Browns current kicker Phil Dawson, who proceeded Stover in Cleveland when the team reentered the league in 1999, kicked for the same high school as Stover - Lake Highlands High in Dallas. If someone can calculate that odds of that happening they would have to be far greater that a million to one.

Lots of Bling Bling Gets Taken from Donte Whitner's House

Former Glenville High School and Ohio State Buckeyes standout football player Donte Whitner is having himself a pretty crummy year. In April, the current Buffalo Bills starter was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting police. This weekend his luck got even worse when he returned home from a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to find $400K worth of jewelery missing from his home following a burglary.

At least things are going well on the field for Whitner. He scored his first touchdown of his NFL career in the win over the weekend returning an interception 76 yards which was one of the key plays of the game.

Browns a 2 Touchdown Underdog Against Baltimore Next Weekend

If you think that the Cleveland Browns are bad, Las Vegas oddsmakers think they are even worse. The Browns have been installed as the biggest underdog in week 3 of the NFL season getting a whopping 14 points. Professional prognosticators also don't envision Brady Quinn and the Browns anemic offense to score many points against Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens defnse. The over under is set at only 38.5 points.

If you want a glimpse out how pathetic it actually is to be getting 2 touchdowns in the NFL, the second largest line this week is a 9 point spread between Carolina who play at Dallas this weekend.

Here is a rundown on the early NFL lines for week 3.
