Early Lines Are in for the AFC and NFC Championship Games Next Week

Arizona a 3 point underdog at home while Steelers are spotting 5 in the steel city on Sunday

The Arizona Cardinals are probably feeling a little bit like Rodney Dangerfield. They get no respect. For the third straight week, and second time at home, they find themselves as underdogs in the NFC Playoffs. Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles are favored in their matchup against Kurt Warner's Cardinals. It probably doesn't make a difference to the Cards who were more than a 10 point underdog the Carolina Panthers this weekend and blew favored team out. Oddsmakers foresee a high scoring affair in the battle to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl with the over/under at 48 points.

In the AFC North battle that doubles as AFC Championship game the Pittsburgh Steelers are spotting the Baltimore Ravens 5. Unlike the NFC battle, oddsmakers see a low scoring game in the chilly steel city where the over under is a ultra low 33 points.

Boston College Fires Coach for Interviewing with Jets

Looking for another job while you're already working for someone else is always tricky business. Get caught, and you risk getting fired in a lot of cases. And that's just what happened to now-former Boston College football coach Jeff Jagodzinski.

Jagodzinski was fired by the Eagles' athletic director Gene DeFilippo, who followed through on his threat to fire him if he interviewed with the Jets for their vacant coaching position. Jagodzinski, BC's coach for the past two years, was called into DeFilippo's office Wednesday, and was terminated.

DeFilippo said that he wanted a football coach that considered Boston College a destination rather than a way station to coaching in the NFL. After interviewing with the Jets, it became clear that Jagodzinski did not feel the same way.

Jagodzinski, 45, met with the Jets Tuesday night. He was fired the following morning, with three years remaining on his contract. He had replaced Tom O'Brien at BC after spending 22 years as an assistant coach. He was also an assistant in the NFL for eight years before coming to BC as the head coach.

All Home Teams Favorites in Next Week's Playoff Games

Every home team in the NFL Playoffs is expected to win by Las Vegas oddsmakers. The biggest underdog of the week is the Arizona Cardinals who will face the Carolina Panthers on Saturday evening. NFL experts forecast the Ravens/Titans game to the be the closest in AFC and excpet a battle in the NFC East showdown that pits the Giants versus the Eagles. Here are the entire early lines for next week's action:

Philladelphia Eagles Advance to Next Round of NFC Playoffs Disposing of the Vikings

Donovan McNabb led the the Philladephia Eagles to a 26-14 road win against the Minnesota Vikings today. The Eagles will face division rival the New York Giants in the second round on the road. Brian Westrbook had a 121 total roads and a touchdown and McNabb, nearly run out town after a poor start to the season threw for 300 yards a touchdown in the victory. The Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had a solid game with 80 yards and two touchdown runs but their teams passing game was effectively shut down by the stout Eagles defense.

Baltimore's "D" Dominates Dolphins as Ravens Advance in AFC Playoffs

The Baltimore Ravens forced 5 turnovers, including picking off Chad Pennington 4 times, as they advanced in the AFC Playoffs with a road win over the Miami Dolphins 27-9. The Dolphins looked sharp in their opening possession driving the ball to the 2 yard line but had to settle for a 19 yard field goal. From there, it was all Baltimore as rookie quarterback Joe Flacco played mistake free football and let his defense do the heavy lifting.

Ravens defensive back Ed Reed provided the biggest highlight of the afternoon returning an errant Pennington pass for a 64 yard touchdown return. Reed would add another interception in the third quarter and his teammates would join in on the pick parade with two more in the route.

The Ravens received their offense from a 2 man running attack led by Willis McGahee (6 attempts 63 yards) and Le'Ron McClain (18 carries 71 yards 1 Touchdown). Joe Flacco threw for 135 yards and hit Derrick Mason 4 times for 71 yards.

The Ravens task gets harder next week as they face the AFC's toughest team as they travel to Tennessee.
