Federer Facing Murray in Australian Open Final

Roger Federer dominated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Australian Open to advance to yet another Grand Slam Final. The Swiss star breezed 6–2, 6–3, 6–2 for the straight set victory.

“I am very surprised how the match went; I expected quite differently,” Federer told an ESPN after the match. “Tonight maybe was one of those days where he needed that first set so badly and maybe after that he sort of let his head hang a bit, and was a bit disappointed, and I took advantage of it.”

Venus Williams Falls to Na Li in Australian Open Quarterfinal

Venus Williams fell to China's Na Li in the Australian Open this evening. Li moves into the semifinals of the tournament with the 2-6 7-6 7-5 victory. Li may have another Williams sister to contend with as Serena is playing Belarusian Victoria Azarenka currently.

"Best day of my whole life," Li told ESPN after the match. "I just played my tennis. I know I lost the first set but thanks for the coach, never give up."

Venus' visit to Australia isn't completely over. Serena and the elder Williams sister are still alive in doubles draw and will play in the semis on Thrusday.

Venus Williams Denies Going Commando; Says She Wore Flesh Colored Undies

Venus Williams caused quite a stir last week when it appeared that she was wearing no underwear under her latest skimpy tennis outfit. The bright yellow outfit featured large slits on the sides, and when the tennis star was moving about the skirt portion would fly up, exposing what we now know to be flesh-colored underwear.

Many people watching the matches, however, were adamant that the 29-year-old star had begun taking fashion inspiration from the likes of Britney Spears, deciding to forgo undergarments. Looking at many pictures, it's easy to see how many were so easily fooled.

Williams intentionally wore underwear that were the exact same shade as her skin, to give the illusion that she wasn't wearing anything underneath her skirt. On her Twitter account, Venus responded to the rumors:

"I am wearing undershorts the same color as my skin, so it gives the slits in my dress the full effect!"

Regardless of her choice of attire, which always seems to cause a stir, Venus has been killing her opponents in the Australian Open. On Saturday she defeated Casey Dellacqua in just the second set, and will play along side her sister Serena Williams on Sunday against Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.

Venus Williams Moons the Entire World at the Australian Open

Venus Williams choose some interesting attire in the first Grand Slam event of the tennis season. Williams apparently decided to forgo underwear at the Australian Open in her opening round win against Lucie Safarova. If you think that this is some funky photography, there were even more revealing shots than the ones that I choose to run in this story.

It will be interesting to see if Williams continues to flash the entire world when she plays round 2 of the tournament against Sybille Bammer.

Serena Williams Slapped with Record $82,500 Fine & Put on Probation for US Open Outburst

On Monday, Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock revealed that Serena Williams was fined a record $82,500 for her tirade at this year's U.S. Open, and could be suspended from that tournament if she has another "major offense" at any Grand Slam in the next two years. The decision will be formally released later today.

Babcock told press that Williams faces a "probationary period" at tennis' four major championships in both 2010 and 2011. If she has another "major offense" at any one of the Grand Slam tournaments , her fine would increase to $175,000 and she would be barred from the next U.S. Open. If she doesn't have another offense in the next two years, the suspension will be lifted.

The previous highest fine for an offense in a Grand Slam was $48,000 in the 1990s to Jeff Tarango.

At the US Open in September, Williams lashed out at a lineswoman after a foot-fault call near the end of her semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters, who became the tournament champ. She received a $10,000 fine from the US Tennis Association in Sept., which is the maximum on-site penalty a tennis player can face. But, because it was a Grand Slam tournament, Babcock was charged with investigating whether or not further punishment was required.

Tennis Mega-Star Andre Agassi Admits He Used Crystal Meth

Andre Agassi has a stunning admission in his upcoming autobiography. Agassi says that when his career went into a tailspin in 1997 he started to using the drug crystal meth.

ESPN writes:

He'd sunk to No. 141 in the world. He recalls that he was sitting at home when his assistant, Slim, introduced him to one of the most addictive substances known to man:

Slim says, You want to get high with me?

On what?

Gack.

What the hell's gack?

Crystal meth.

Why do they call it gack?

Because that's the sound you make when you're high. Make you feel like Superman, dude.

As if they're coming out of someone else's mouth, I hear these words: You know what? F*** it. Yeah. Let's get high.

Tennis Champ Justine Henin to Return to Tennis

Justine Henin, who was ranked the world's No. 1 player last year, is set to announce a return to women's professional tennis later today. Back in May she complained about how the sport left her with various physical ailments, and noted that she did not think a return was possible. In the past month she began to train again, but hasn't commented on plans of a return to the sport.

Henin, 27, is expected to make a formal announcement Tuesday afternoon, and is likely to be ready for the first major of next season.

Profanity at US Open Costs Roger Federer $1,500

Roger Federer is being fined $1,500 for audible profanity during CBS's live broadcast of the US Open final. Microphones picked up Federer's exchange with the chair umpire.

Two other players are also being fined for using profanity during the tournament - Vera Zvonareva and Daniel Koellerer. A total of $31,500 is being collected by the tournament. Serena Williams was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct and $500 for racket abuse, and Daniel Nestor was charged $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct toward a fan.

Serena Williams Apologizes for US Open Behavior

A profanity-laced tirade by Serena Williams directed at a US Open Line judge on Saturday evening cost the tennis star not just the match, but also a chance at making it to the finals and a $10,000 fine. An investigation is also under way to determine if there should be additional punishment. On Sunday she issued a statement to the press, and on Monday she posted her apologies on both Twitter and her blog.

On Twiter, Serena wrote:

"I want to sincerely apologize FIRST to the lines woman, Kim Clijsterst, USTA & mostly tennis fans everywhere. Thank you all for your support."

She posted a lengthier apology on her blog:

"Hey guys!!!

I want to amend my press statement of yesterday, and want to make it clear as possible - I want to sincerely apologize FIRST to the lines woman, the USTA, and mostly tennis fans everywhere for my inappropriate outburst. I'm a woman of great pride, faith and integrity, and I admit when I'm wrong.

I need to make it clear to all young people that I handled myself inappropriately and it's not the way to act — win or lose, good call or bad call in any sport, in any manner.

Roger Federer Posts Picture of His Twin Girls on Facebook

Roger Federer shared pictures of his newborn twin girls today on Facebook. The tennis legend wrote on his page:

As promised, here is a family picture that my dad took. He thinks he's becoming a professional photographer. It was very funny as both girls had the hiccups while we were trying to take a decent picture. The girls and mom are doing great. Thanks for all your warm wishes.

The 2009 Wimbledon champ and his wife Mirka named the babies who born late last month Myla and Charlene.
