Hot Drinks to Keep You Warm in the Bitter Cold

With temperatures in the teens and a wind chill below zero, you need more than just layers of clothes and a good furnace to keep warm in Cleveland this winter. What you need is to be warmed from the inside out with a nice, hot, alcoholic drink.

Here are some of our top four choices:

Hot Toddy

How to make it:

In a saucepan, combine 1 cup freshly brewed Darjeeling tea, 1/4 cup whiskey, 1/4 cup ginger wine, 4 cloves, and a pinch of freshly grated cinnamon (a stick will do, too). Warm gently over a low heat; be careful not to boil. Allow to infuse for about 3-5 minutes. Strain into mugs and serve immediately.

Spicy Cardamom

How to make it:

Put about 12 whole crushed cardamom pods into six cups of boiling water. Add a strip of orange peel and brew for about 10 minutes. Add 2 tbsp black tea leaves, leave for 5 minutes, and strain. Serve immediately with hot milk and honey.

But for those looking to try out some new sandwiches to include in the lunchbox, there are some tasty new twists to consider. If you love peanut butter, you'll love these concoctions.

Peanut Butter & Potato Chips

Peanut butter spread on two slices of bread with a generous amount of crisp potato chips in between is a favorite of many kids, who creatively combine items from their lunchboxes, but also of many grown-ups that enjoy the extra bit of salt and crunch the chips add.

Grilled Peanut Butter & Banana with Honey

A much-loved favorite of Elvis Presley. Smear some peanut butter and mashed up bananas on bread, add a little bit of honey, and grill it up for a hot, tasty meal.

Fluffernutter

For the sweet tooth. Invented in 1917, this sandwich calls for spreading one piece of bread with peanut butter and the other piece with marshmallow fluff for a heavenly treat.

How to Create the Perfect Super Bowl Sundae

The Super Bowl is first and foremost about football, but it's also about the food and the commercials. If you're having guests over your place to watch the game, you'll want to make sure you're well stocked with an assortment of snacks and treats. The dessert area is often dominated by football-themed cakes and cookies in your favorite teams' colors, but we'd like to offer you a different option this year: the Super Bowl Sundae.

The Super Bowl Sundae is just what the name implies - a delicious, football themed ice cream sundae. Before you grab the ice cream and all the toppings, wait. To really make your sundae stand out, you'll want to head to the local party store, Kmart, or wherever you can find those cute little mini plastic football helmets. Look for ones slightly larger than your first, and definitely don't grab the ultra mini ones that are about perfectly sized to fit a Barbie doll's head. Once you've gotten the helmets, you're ready to get started. If you can't find any, don't worry. Your Super Bowl Sundae won't be as cool, but we can make do. You can substitute the helmets for plastic bowls in your team colors, which you can find in a rainbow of colors at any party store.

The Drinks You Need for the Ultimate New Year's Eve Party

With the right line-up of alcoholic beverages you can turn any hum-drum New Year's Eve get-together into a great party. To start, forget the cheap beer. Save that for your late night run to the convenient store after everything else has disappeared, because at that point you and your guests probably won't notice just how bad it is. While your guests are still sober, you'll want to serve something a little more sophisticated.

Here are our choices for the top alcoholic beverages to have on hand for your New Year's Eve party, sorted by category:

Rum:

You can never have enough rum on hand; it mixes great with Coke and an assortment of other beverages. Our favorites are Mount Gay Rum and Oronoco Rum.

Mount Gay Rum:
It's James Bonds' newest drink of choice; he even ordered it over his trademark martini in Casino Royale. Of course that's not reason enough to snatch up a bottle of the world's oldest rum. Produced in Barbados, Mount Gay Rum is made with pure cane sugar, giving it a sweeter taste than most other rums. Mix it with Coca-Cola and some ice for the ultimate rum and coke.

Oronoco Rum:
