Houston, We Have a Problem… NASA Astronaut Arrested
Lisa Marie Nowak, a NASA astronaut, has been arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping. Nowak, who was on the Discovery shuttle last year, was involved in what looks like a love triangle. Navy Cmdr. William Oefelein, a pilot during space shuttle Discovery, was the object of Nowak’s affection. She seemed to have gotten obsessed with him, writing him a love letter that was discovered after she was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend but Nowak admitted to police it was, "more than a working relationship but less than a romantic relationship," with Oefelein.
Nowak pepper sprayed Oefelein’s girlfriend Colleen Shipman in a attempt to seize her car. Shipman was able to alert nearby security and they seized a BB gun, the love note mentioned earlier, the pepper spray, and other items that showed how elaborate the attack was.
Feds at It Again, Seize Canadian Drugs in Miami
Instead of searching for Osama Bin Laden the Bush administration seems determined to keep Canada Drugs out of the hands of Seniors who cannot afford to pay American prices. 37 packages of medicine from Canada shipped to Florida were seized last week. This comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said they would stop the practice of seizing drugs that would be used for personal use.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson was not pleased when he heard the news. He lashed out at the Bush administration and says senior citizens deserve to buy cheaper medications to save money and preserve their health. FDA-approved drugs such as Lipitor for cholesterol, and Nexium for acid reflux were part of the seizure by the federal agents.

KSU to Offer Free Language Courses To Teens this Summer
This summer, Kent State University will be offering a free language immersion program for high school students that want to learn one of the world's four most difficult languages. Approximately fifty students will be chosen to participate in a year-long program to learn Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or Russian.
Many of these languages are not offered at the high school level, and many students who begin them while in college often find that they don't have sufficient time to become proficient enough in the languages. Compared to other languages like Spanish and French, taking Chinese, Russian, Japanese, or Arabic lessons requires a much larger time commitment both in class, and studying outside the classroom.

So, Who Butchered The National Anthem The Worst?
Here are some of the worst versions of the National Anthem on record. At least Hillary Clinton knew the words. Dennis Hastert is as close to the ‘Naked Gun’ version as I ever seen. And Roseanne Barr… Who knows what that was? Enjoy.
Kick a Drug Habit and Win an iPod!
Yes, you read that right. In the UK, a measure is currently being proposed that would reward drug addicts for staying clean by offering them prizes and shopping vouchers. The plan was recently unveiled by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), who believes that the incentives would be cost effective.
Under the plan, an estimated 50,000 people could be rewarded for trying to quit their drug habit. They would receive prizes and vouchers for providing drug-free urine samples, with the size of the prizes increasing with the amount of time spent drug-gree.
The proposal is upsetting many, as just months ago the NICE denied coverage for Alzheimer's disease treatments and life-prolonging cancer drugs. The fact that they would want to buy iPods for drug addicts has many angered. Drug workers have described the proposals and "ridiculous". They also warned that it could lead to the addicts trading prizes and vouchers to feed their drug habits. As well, many fear that addicts might be able to easily cheat on the drug tests.

Hugo Chavez Confirms Castro Is “Battling for His Life”
Hugo Chavez confirmed what the world suspected: Fidel Castro is severely ill. "Fidel is in the Sierra Maestra again, battling for his life," Chavez said about the ailing Cuban leader.
The 80 year old Castro has not been seen in public since July. He has given the governance of the country to his brother, Raul; while he recovers what the western world presumes is cancer.
Although Chavez did say the illness was very serious he did deny a Spanish newspapers account about Castro’s condition. The paper stated that Castro has had three failed operations for intestinal infection diverticulitis.
China Shows Muscle in Space
China sent the United States a strong signal when they blew up an old weather satellite January 11th. What many analysts believe China was trying to show was that are strongly against America talks about bringing weaponry into space. It has been a contentious debate in the United Nations, with every country opposed to limiting Space Weapons except the U.S. "It is likely to feed back into the anti-missile defense debate," Lord Wallace, a Liberal Democrat from Britain, told The London Times.
Although countries have been opposed the United States ‘Star Wars’ program, which is what China seems to be protesting, the British Prime Minister condemned the Chinese test. Tony Blair told reporters, "We have concerns about the impact of debris in space and we've expressed that concern.”
