Designers Rush to Copy Kate's Royal Wedding Gown

While most of us were watching the Royal wedding this week in awe, fashion designers were paying careful attention to the dress that Kate Middleton was wearing. Brides-to-be who fell in love with Kate's gown will pleased to learn that designers watching took detailed notes and hurried sketches in a frantic rush to create mass-produced versions that will hit stores as early as late June.

If you can't wait the four weeks it will take to get the knock-off version, David's Bridal was already touting a strapless look from Oleg Cassini paired with a lacey bolero jacket on its website as the already available version of the knockoffs that will hit their stores in September.

Those eying up Kate's jewelry will be able to pre-order knockoffs of earrings on QVC as early as Monday night. The piece will sell for under $60 and will be created by Kenneth Jay Lane, and will be available to shoppers in two months.

Mulberry for Target Bags Prove to be a Huge Success; Already Selling Out

Photo: The Mulberry bag on the left goes for $1,450. The one on the right, made for Target, goes for just $49.99.

If you've always dreamed of owning a posh British Mulberry bag, but haven't been able to afford the over $1k price tag that most of their stuff carries, there's good news - Target has just unveiled their new Mulberry for Target line. The line hit store shelves on Sunday, and in just hours their online stock sold out.

Many stores across the country are now either sold out, or are on the verge of selling out. Expect these bags to be popping up for more than their $49.99 and up price tags on eBay.

The line's Large Cerise Leopard Satchel goes for just $49.99, compared to a similar purple leopard Alexa Hobo bag that goes for $1,450 from Mulberry's original collection.

If you're hoping to snag one of these bags (other designs are also available), check out your local Target stores sooner rather than later because these aren't going to last!

Fall's Trendiest Trousers

What kind of pants can you expect retailers to try to sell you on this autumn? Look no further. Here are the four biggest trends in trousers for women this fall:

Straight

These pants don't flare out at the bottoms and can look silly with the wrong pair of shoes. They are best paired with a cute heeled shoe, and are a great choice if you have larger thighs.

Skinny

Think of leggings and that's pretty much what "skinny" pants are. These form-hugging pants come in a variety of fabrics from denim to polyester blends and more. They're not very flattering on many women, unfortunately and are best left to the underfed catwalk models and genetically blessed.

Trendy Yeti Boots Will Make You Look Like the Abominable Snowman

Forget Uggs. This season's hottest boots are a lot more furry and funny-looking. They're fuzzy, fluffy Yeti boots. Yep, these are the same ugly boots that were on disco dance floors in the 1970s and that were revived by Kate Moss and crew in the late 1990s. In the fashion world, even bad trends come back again.

Gap Teeth Are in Style in the Fashion World

Having cosmetically unaltered teeth is the in thing this year in the fashion world. Well, not completely unaltered -- I don't think stained, chipped or yellowish teeth will ever be a coveted cosmetic feature -- but now having a gap between your front teeth is acceptable, even desirable.

The Wall Street Journal says that gap teeth will be one of the most coveted attributes for models at this week's New York Fashion Week, explaining:

"These are values that are more and more important for younger generations. Originality, authenticity in a world that is more and more digitally enhanced."

Stefano Tonchi from the fashion magazine "W" also adds:

"It’s a love for the imperfect and the authentic."

The trend is becoming so popular, according to fashion experts, that some models are even going to dentists and asking for a space to be created between their front teeth.

Leading the way for gap teeth are Mick Jagger's daughter, Georgia, who has shown off her natural spacing in a jeans ads, and model Lara Stone, wife of comedian David Walliams and Vogue UK's "girl of the year" for 2009. And, of course, Madonna is also being credited in part -- she's been sporting the look forever now.

Victoria Beckham Bans Size Zero Models from Her NYC Fashion Show

Victoria Beckham, 36, may be a twig that subsists on edamame beans, she insists that she is a healthy size 6 and chalks her figure up to being a busy mother of three and a businesswoman. Nevertheless, the former Spice Girl has banned size zero models from appearing in her New York Fashion Week runway show.

Beckham's Spring 2011 collection will instead be modeled by health girls who look "realistic" to encourage a positive image to impressionable teens. Anyone smaller than a size six simply won't be allowed to participate.

Beckham reported denied twelve models from appearing in her show after deeming them "too skinny".

Sitting in the front row at her fashion show will be Tom Ford, Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker and Mary J Blige.

110 Cases of Swine Flu Identified at Xavier University in Ohio

In just the ten days since Xavier University received their first notification verifying the presence of the H1N1 swine flu virus on campus, 110 probable cases have been identified. This number includes students who currently have it, as well as those who have since recovered.

The Xavier University Emergency Response Tem as been monitoring the situation closely, posting updates to the school's website. News that 110 cases had been identified on campus was posted today. It was also indicated that 25 students are at the student recovery center at the Alumni Center, which continues to house students 24/7. All have progressed steadily, and some have been discharged.

In order to slow the spread of the virus, students who are diagnosed as probable for swine flu are required to either return home to recover or self-isolate themselves in the school's recovery center. This policy applies to all students "no matter if they live off campus, on campus or if tey have separate bedrooms."

The End of a Fad and a Company? Crocs Faces Financial Trouble

When Crocs (NASDAQ: CROX) hit stores and the fashion scene in 2002, many were left scratching their heads. The plastic clog shoes were (and still are) hideous, and yet they were being snatched up from store shelves like crazy. Over the years, fans have touted the comfort of the clogs while the rest of the world just can't wait to be rid of eye sores. Well my friends, it looks as though the end might finally be here.

In 2007, Crocs boasted a profit of $168.2 million. But in just one year, the company found itself struggling with debt. It lost $185.1 million and cut 2,000 jobs, and its stock price dropped 76%.

Crocs now has until September to pay back the losses. But as consumers now show little interest in the $30 shoes, the company is left with a surplus. There is no demand for Crocs.

Speaking with the Washington Post, Damon Vickers, manager of an investment fund at Nine Points Capital Partners in Seattle, said:

"The company is toast. They're zombie-ish. They're dead and they don't know it."

The Sandals that Match Every Outfit: Switchflops

If you're like me, you probably have sandals in a rainbow of colors to match various outfits during the warmer months of the year. Of those you probably have a favorite pair or two that you'd love to wear all the time, but just can't because they don't always match your clothes. To solve this fashion dilemma, I'd like to introduce you to the coolest new sandals available: Switchflops.

Switchflops are comfortable flip-flop style sandals that come with interchangeable straps. The sandals range in price from $35 to $39 depending on the style and come with two different strap sets. Additional straps can be ordered for just $12.

They're great for taking along on a trip too, because bringing extra straps instead of extra footwear takes up far less space in your luggage. The straps are easily interchangeable, and are attached with strong, quality velcro.

Barack Obama Institutes a More Casual Weekend Dress Code at the White House

Barack Obama is making some rather big changes in the White House, but not all are political. Under the reign of George W. Bush, staff were required to wear a suit and tie at all times, including over the weekend. One former aide recalled an incident in which he was not permitted to enter the Oval Office because he was wearing khakis, and was instead yelled at by Bush in the doorway. Obama, however, is throwing out that old rule and has put in place a more casual dress code for the weekends.

It is said that over Obama's first weekend in the White House, his aides were unsure of how to dress. Some showed up in jeans, while others wore coats and ties. In order to address the confusion, Obama issued an informal edict for "business casual" on weekends.

Obama set the example himself, showing up for a Saturday briefing along with his chief economic advisor, Lawrence H. Summers, wearing slacks and a grey sweater over a white buttoned-down shirt.

Those who served in the White House under the Bush administration are understandly shocked by the new President's choice in apparel.
