Best Donuts in Cleveland Ohio
“OOOHHHH….DOOOONUUUUTS!” This phrase coined by that great American father, husband and Springfield legend Homer Simpson sums up Cleveland’s perspective on breakfast mainstay that is donuts. I would better a baker’s dozen that Homer Simpson is the most passionate donut lover on earth. Contrary to popular belief and American pop culture folklore, police officers do not comprise the largest group of donut lovers. Regardless of demographic, Americans love donuts and Cleveland is no different. Glazed, chocolate, jelly and countless variations of this morning pastry are equally consumed with glee daily in the C-Town. When deciding on what to bring to morning meetings managers try to be healthy and bring bagels and cream cheese. However, 3 days later, countless lunch rooms and refrigerators remained jam-packed with wheat bagels and jalapeno cream cheese tubs. Donuts on the other hand rarely make it thru lunch. Many diets crash and burn when free glazed donuts are presented for breakfast at the weekly staff meeting.
Abby has been bugging me to lose weight and eat better for years. Most days I do ok and even when pizza is ordered, I have been able to show restraint. All of the self control dissipates when management brings in several dozens of donuts into the conference room. Even if I had a nice breakfast smoothie on the way in, 3-5 donuts mysteriously ends up on my desk. These lapses has cost me extra time in the gym. The Cleveland Leader had to sneak me this assignment and I had to take Ubers in secret in order to find the best places to find donuts. There is nothing like having a tasty donut and a big cup of coffee. These places have great donuts, coffee and several squad cars in the parking lot at all hours of the day. Presti’s Bakery
Little Italy in Cleveland has a golden reputation for food. Presti’s Bakery has been serving this community since 1903 and is one of the oldest establishments in Cleveland. A full service baker, Presti’s has a wide selection of pastries. Sweets, cakes, bread as well as a cafe and deli. That being said, their donuts, brownies, danishes, cinnamon rolls and muffins rival anyone in town.

Lakewood has a well-earned reputation for having a large collection of eclectic businesses, restaurants and clubs that push the envelope no matter the genre. Brewnuts is another manifestation of this tradition of being nontraditional Lakewood seems to have a knack for doing. Who would have thought donuts and beer would work? If there are two things that Clevelanders love passionately, donuts and beer can be 1 and 1A. To have them under one roof is a stroke of genius. Brewnuts specializes in craft beer based donuts, meaning their donuts are made with beer. My body was pleasantly confused when I had my first one. Ironically, you can enjoy a cup of Phoenix Coffee (another Cleveland-based company) along with your brewnuts, which goes to show you that when you enter Lakewood, you must be prepared to experience anything and everything.

“Got to make the Donuts!” We all remember the iconic commercial from one of America’s most beloved brands. Dunkin Donuts has been making breakfast that much sweeter since 1950. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Chris Rock in his legendary comedy special Never Scared jokingly stated that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts had crack in them because they were too good. Now I have never tried crack and never intend to. However, after I tried my first Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut hot off the line, I was instantly hooked. I am not privy to the recipe but whatever is in it is highly addictive.
