Hoverboards were one of the biggest trending gadgets and nearly everyone was desperately trying to get their hands on one. These boards are insanely fun to ride and easy to figure out, which is why they have become so popular.  Today I’m going to talk about what to look for when you buy one of these self-balancing devices.

Tips on Purchasing Hoverboards

But the biggest challenge is to find the right hoverboard for you or a member of the family. Since these are now insanely popular, numerous companies have released a model with a different brand name but almost the same features except few brands that offer more than what others do.

Whether you are buying a hoverboard for yourself or for a family member, or you simply want to gift it to a loved one, you’ll need to know how to find the best hoverboard. Below are some very helpful guidelines that will help you make an important decision based on numerous important factors.

The age of rider – Hoverboards can pose a serious threat if the rider doesn’t use it properly. This is hoverboards are strictly meant to be used by people with ages 12 and up. Do not buy the board for a child younger than that age or an elderly person.

Check laws of your state – Did you know that hoverboards are now banned in many states of U.S? The use of hoverboards have been banned on pathways and roads which means you will only be able to ride one at home, backyard, or in the basement. Check the laws concerning hoverboards in your state before buying one.

Charging factor – Hoverboards can take a lot of time to charge. So make sure you get one that has a large battery and maintains a charge for at least a couple of hours before running out of juice.

Speed – most hoverboards offer a set minimum and maximum speed limit. If you are buying a hoverboard for a youngster, make sure the speed does not exceed 4 miles. Hoverboards can be dangerous at high speeds if not handled carefully. Most hoverboards max out at 15 miles.

Weight – It may come as a surprise but many hoverboards are heavy. This is specially a nuisance if you want to carry your hoverboard on steep hills or you have to walk carrying it for a long distance. The hoverboard should be light and should ideally come with a carrying case for you to easily transport it even if you are just walking.

With that said, I’m NOT an expert.  However, I’ve found someone who is. Click here for an expert buying guide you can use as you shop for hoverboards.
