Cleveland Marathon 2019 – Sponsored By Rite Aid

The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon has been a marquee event for the City of Cleveland since 1978.  Since its inception, the Marathon has raised over $15M for many of Cleveland’s charities and have had several milestones that are notable.

Some include being one of the oldest active marathons in the country, being the first marathon to incorporate a 10K event since 1978,  the first to offer a large cash prize to the winner of the 10K race in 1988, World Record for 10K was set in 1996 and the first to invite top athletes from the Soviet Union during the Cold War in 1988. The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon has and continues to be dedicated to providing a running experience to all who are interested and be a leader in promoting overall fitness for Cleveland residents.

Race Weekend Events

The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon has an impressive list of events that are designed to cater to participants, fans and sponsors. The Health and Fitness Expo is a 2 day event held at the newly built Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.  This event starts on Friday and wraps up Saturday. The Expo  has over 100 exhibits and booths that are open to the public. Runners can register at the Convention Center

There is also a  Kids Marathon and a 5K and 8K run on Saturday.  After these races, the Marathon has a Pasta Dinner for runners and their families.  On Sunday the 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon are held.  There is also a youth run called “We Run This City” where Cleveland Municipal School Students run 1.2 miles to complete their 26 mile program and there is a day long Finish Line Rock Party at Public Square where bands play and patrons can enjoy food and beverages.

Rite Aid is the title sponsor, however there are many in the Cleveland as well as national Corporate Community that help the Marathon be a success annually such as American Greetings, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Great Lakes Brewing Company and Qwest Nutrition. Other notable sponsors and friends of the Marathon are The Cleveland Cavaliers, The Lake Erie Monsters,  The Cleveland Indians, The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Hyatt Regency, Eat-n-Park,  and WKYC Channel 3.

The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon is celebrating its 41st year in 2019. Its founder Jack Staph is still working with the Marathon along with Jack Jr. And they hope that you will help them continue their mission.
