Sainato’s At Rivergate Review – Italian Restaurant & Pizza Place

The perfect family style Italian spot with great food, friendly service and huge portions. If you have been in need of a new place to take the whole family for a quality dinner, consider your prayers answered with Sainatos.

Located on the edge of the Flats, Sainato’s At Rivergate is in a good spot if you decide to make a whole day in the neighborhood. It’s close to Jacob’s Pavilion at  Nautica and Rivergate Park so there is plenty to do before or after your meal.

The staff is friendly and happy to be working at Sainato’s At Rivergate it seems. They will always greet you with a smile and you really will feel like you are dining with family. All the servers know the menu like the back of their hand and will easily be able to answer any questions you could possibly have regarding their mammoth selection.

The menu is broken down in 11 categories: Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Sandwiches, Submarines, Entrees, Calzones & Pizzas, Pasta, Kids, Pizza Specialties, Dessert and Beverages (soft drinks only).

Both the Appetizers and Soups & Salads menus are about what you would typically expect. They feature the staples like the Italian Sausage (with sautéed pepper, onion, fresh-baked bread) for $7 and the Chicken Tenders for $6.50 for apps and Italian Wedding Soup (meatballs, vegetables, spinach, pastina) for $4.50 and Grilled Chicken Salad (grilled chicken, mixed lettuce, cucumber, tomato, purple onion, red pepper, provolone cheese) for $9.

Highlights from the Sandwich section are the “Teresa’s Delight” (pepperoni, melted provolone, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, banana pepper) for $9.50 and the “Veal Parmesan” for $11. The Submarines section has some great choices as well. Fans love the “Italian Meatball” (house-made marinara, meatballs, provolone) for $9.50 and the “Veggie Sub (Hot or Cold)” (roasted red pepper, banana pepper, breaded eggplant, lettuce, tomato, red onion, provolone) also for $9.50.

The Pasta section is really where they shine. It has everything from “Spaghetti and Meatballs” for $12.95 to the “Linguini and Clam Sauce” for $12.95 as well. It also offers different variations of Fettuccine Alfredo ranging from $12.95 to $17.95.

Another great option is their pizza! Pizzas come in 9” for $9.50, 12” for $13, 16” for $16 and sheet (32 slices) for $25. All can be made with a gluten free crust at a small additional cost. Basic toppings are an additional $2, and deluxe toppings (like bacon, chicken, artichoke etc.) are an additional $4.

If you’re not feeling the dining experience, you can always take the great food of Sainato’s home with their takeout options or just simply get it delivered to your home.
